She paused at the crucial part, but Amelia instantly understood what she meant.

Suppressing the urge to ask more, Amelia quickly changed the subject. “With such a heavy workload, have you had any side effects? Morning sickness or anything?”

Lily laughed softly over the phone, sounding a little helpless. “It’s funny, actually. Before I found out I was pregnant, I was a mess–couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, always feeling nauseous. But now it’s the opposite. No morning sickness at all, and I don’t even feel that tired.”

She paused again, and her tone carried a subtle emotion. “It almost makes me feel guilty, like the baby knows we didn’t plan for it and is behaving so well…”
