“Beatrice!” Pedro let out a low, furious warning. His voice was tight with panic.

He might be greedy, but he wasn’t stupid.

“Really?” she asked, visibly delighted. “Mason, you’re really letting Pedro run Marketing?”

Mason nodded, a faint weariness slipping into his expression. “Really. I’ve carried Everett Group on my own for years. To be honest, I’m tired. If Pedro is willing to come back and help, I should be happy. This company isn’t mine alone, and it belongs to the family. It’s only right that we work together.”

Every word struck exactly where Wilda wanted to hear.

“That’s right!” she immediately agreed, smiling so widely her wrinkles deepened. She patted Pedro’s hand affectionately, then looked at Mason with satisfaction. “We’re all family.
