Chapter 662 The Slap
Finished
Mason suddenly stopped and turned around. Even in this situation, his gaze remained steady and strong.
From a distance, he looked at Amelia and said firmly, “Don’t panic, Amelia. Call Tim. Have him bring a lawyer.”
Amelia stood there in a daze, watching his tall figure disappear behind the heavy metal door of the interrogation room.
Her hands trembling, she fumbled to pull her phone out of her bag, trying to call Tim.
But before she could press the call button, a dark shadow swept down with force.
Slap!
The sharp sound echoed through the hallway.
The slap that Wilda hadn’t managed to deliver at the hospital had finally landed on Amelia’s face.
Amelia’s head snapped to the side from the impact. The force made her lose her balance, and her phone fell to the ground, the screen instantly cracking into a spiderweb.
A burning pain spread across her cheek, accompanied by a ringing in her ears.
Before she could recover, Wilda’s voice exploded beside her like something out of a nightmare. “If you’re not a curse, then what are you? The moment you came back, Evan was completely ruined, and now Mason’s been taken by the police! Amelia, are you trying to wipe out the entire Everetts?”
Holding her face, Amelia looked down at the shattered phone on the ground under the strange stares of others, feeling like all her strength had drained away.
But right now, there was no room for despair.
Evan was still lying in the hospital, and Mason had just been taken away. If she fell apart too, everything would truly be over.
Amelia took a deep breath and forced down the surge of emotions.
She slowly crouched down, ignoring Wilda’s still venomous gaze, and reached out with a slightly trembling hand to pick up her phone.
The screen lit up, the fractured light reflecting her pale face and the clear red mark of five fingers on her cheek.
Using the broken screen, she found Tim’s number and called him.
The moment the call connected, she almost broke down crying, but in the end, she forced herself to calmly and briefly explain what had happened, her voice hoarse and nearly dry.
There was a full three seconds of silence on the other end. Then Tim swore under his breath, his voice filled with anger and urgency. “I’m bringing a lawyer right now. Hold on. Don’t be scared.”
