Chapter 668 Don’t Worry
Finished
Ethan seemed to catch on to her silence and quickly added, “Don’t worry, Amelia. I’m not trying to do anything else here. When we divorced, I knew it wasn’t because Mason got involved. That was on me–I let you down. So if there’s anything I can do now… at least let me make up for some of it.”
He sounded sincere, and it stirred up a mix of emotions in Amelia’s chest.
She had hated him once-for how cold he’d been, for how he’d betrayed her. But hearing him say something like this now… she hadn’t seen it coming.
Still, no matter how complicated her feelings were, they didn’t change what was right in front of her.
“There’s no need, Ethan,” she said in the end, turning him down. “Things are still unclear right now. If you get pulled into this, it’ll just make everything messier. I appreciate it, but I’ll handle it.”
With that, she hung up, not giving him a chance to say anything else.
On the other end, Ethan stared at his phone, a bitter look crossing his face.
He scrolled through the flood of insults aimed at Amelia online, a dull, heavy ache settling in his chest.
He could’ve stayed out of it. He could’ve let the public opinion keep building-maybe even used it to clear his name for good and push Row Group’s stock even higher.
But seeing those ugly, vicious comments… he just couldn’t ignore it.
He picked up his phone again and called his assistant. “Put out a statement right away. Say this-my marriage with Amelia fell apart entirely because of me. I failed as a husband. It has nothing to do with anyone else, and there was no third party involved. Tell people online to stop guessing and leave her alone.*
The assistant got to work right away.
Not long after the statement went out, it barely made a dent-just a small ripple in the noise online.
Around the same time, Mason woke up. He saw the urgent message from his assistant-and found out about Ethan’s statement.
His eyes flicked over the flood of heated comments, his expression going cold.
He got out of bed without even getting cleaned up. The first thing on his mind was checking on Amelia- worried she’d already seen the news.
But when he walked into the kitchen, he paused.
Amelia was already there, busy at the stove.
Sunlight poured through the window, lighting her up in a soft, golden glow.
She stood there, focused on stirring the pot, her face calm-almost peaceful

He leaned in the doorway, just watching her, a quiet warmth settling in his chest.
All the words he’d meant to say caught in his throat.
Seeing that rare calm on her face, he couldn’t bring himself to break it.
After she finished stirring the oatmeal and turned around, she finally noticed him.

“Mason!” she called softly, her eyes lighting up. “You’re up? Why are you just standing there? I made some oatmeal. I was just about to come get you.”
Mason only nodded, swallowing whatever he’d been about to say.
He walked over, grabbed a bowl from the cabinet, and headed straight for the table.
On the dining table, a pot of steaming oatmeal gave off a faint, comforting warmth.
Amelia scooped a bowl of oatmeal and handed it to him, then casually added a splash of milk and some fruit on top.
The two sat across from each other, quietly having breakfast.
