No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 704

Chapter 704 The Gift for Amelia

Amelia stared at the sketchin the journal, and recognition hit her instantly.

It was the pendant. The one she’d worn since childhood. The one that had vanished without explanation.

“A gift for Amelia.”

Her thoughts moved fast and tangled, dozens of scattered pieces rushing toward each other at once.

She was close to seeing the full shape of it when a voice broke through the silence behind her.

“Amelia. Did you find something?”

Amelia flinched hard. The journal nearly flew out of her hands.

She turned stiffly. Hannah was standing in the attic doorway, shadow falling across her face, both eyes locked onto the journal in Amelia’s grip with an intensity that made the air feel heavier.

Amelia’s heart hammered. Her instincts told her this was worse than she’d prepared for.

She tightened her hold on the journal and took a step back, her voice coming out slightly taut. “Hannah. Why did you get up here?”

She glanced past Hannah toward the low wooden door. It was still ajar, the hallway beyond it dim and quiet.

The bodyguards were nowhere she could see.

She had posted them at the base of the staircase and told them to watch Hannah. So how had Hannah gotten up here without them stopping her?

Hannah caught the direction of Amelia’s gaze, and the smile that spread across her face was all wrong. She stepped closer, unhurried, her voice carrying a cold edge that hadn’t been there before. “Don’t bother looking. I found an excuse to move them.”

The hostility coming off Hannah was palpable now, something cold and deliberate pressing into the room. At that moment, Amelia felt her phone vibrate against her palm. She’d set it to silent before the visit. She had no idea who was calling, but the vibration felt like her only possible lifeline in the situation.

She held herself together and pressed the answer button with her thumb, keeping the phone clenched in her hand, giving no outward sign that anything had changed.

“Hannah, take a breath.” Amelia kept her voice level, buying time while her mind worked through the options available to her.

She let her gaze drift across Hannah with studied casualness and then said, as though the thought had hisE occurred to her. “You’re not actually Lenny’s daughter, are you?“

The smile on Hannah’s face locked in place. Then it cracked into something panicked underneath.

Her pupils shrank. “How do you know that?”

She stepped forward instinctively, searching Amelia’s expression for the answer.

Amelia had seen enough.

She knew she’d guessed right.

“Because I saw the pendant Demi designed for her daughter with her own hands.” Amelia held her gaze steady and let her voice fill the small, dim space.

“I wore that pendant for most of my life. It disappeared not long after Beatrice came back to the Harlows. I looked for it for a long time and never found any trace of it.

“Somehow it ended up with you. And you used it, along with a fabricated DNA report, to present yourself to Lenny as his daughter. Didn’t you.”

Hannah hadn’t expected Amelia to get this close to the truth.

“You…” The fury shaking through her was so intense she lost her words entirely for a moment.

Then she stopped pretending and let the contempt come through instead. “Fine. You’re smarter than I gave you credit for.”

She didn’t bother softening it. “But the DNA report wasn’t something I made up. Beatrice came to me. She gave me the pendant and a report she’d already prepared. She told me to pose as Lenny’s daughter, get back into the Jewell family, and persuade him to work with her.

“At that point I had nothing. I was nothing. When someone hands you an opportunity like that when you’re at rock bottom, you don’t turn it down.”

Amelia’s expression didn’t loosen even slightly.

Her eyes stayed sharp and watchful. “You’re telling me a lot of secrets. What if I go to Lenny and tell him all about it?”

Hannah’s mouth curved upward into something that didn’t belong on a human face. f

“Do you really think I brought you up here and planned to give you a way out?”

Amelia’s stomach dropped. The danger of the moment crystallized around her all at once.
