Not just the Beta (Oriana and Slade) novel Chapter 100

Slade

He was released in the morning by Morgan after an Xray to show his lung was back to normal, and he made his way right to the pack cells. Vance was strolling along next to him. Had already informed him that Hayden had been chained up with silver by Palmer, had demanded them from the cell guard, telling him Hayden had attacked him.

That both Vance and Palmer had taken a piece of him last night before Alpha Roman and the pack Beta had turned up. That Anders had stood staring at the boy but said nothing. Though he’d looked more than disappointed in his kin.

Roman had stared at Hayden for a long time, and then stated simply and clearly “It will be up to Slade as to how to punish you, as per the pack law states. You’ll likely be put to death for this by him, after all I’ve heard, the way he feels.” Then he had turned and left the cell. Neither of them had said anything about the beating the boy had been taking when they’d walked in.

Slade was dressed in jeans and a simple tee-shirt, clothing to replace his bloodstained pack suit, which Vance had strolled in this morning and given to him, at his release. He pushed into the cells to find not only his father sitting on a chair in there, but Anders and Bronnie both in there as well.

All of them appeared to be waiting for him. They all looked at him, and his father actually stood up and nodded to him in greeting.

“He’s mine to punish. Why are you all here?” he asked simply.

“Son.” It was his father. “The pack is talking about you and Oriana having a child together, if it’s true or not?”

“I’m aware.” And he was, “That would be because of what Hayden yelled into that nightclub. It was caught on video as well.” There was nothing he could do about it, the news was out as Hayden, it now always wanted it to be. “He did it to ruin her reputation.” Slade stated “Not the first time he’s tried to do that now is it. He also called her or was going to call her, a whore I believe.”

That whipped Anders and Bronnie’s heads up. “Would one of you like to go in there and beat him for that? I’ll allow it. As long as he’s still breathing when you come out.” He stated “Because she was not. I was the one that took her virginity, that very night.”

“You can’t know that.” Hayden shot at him from the cell “you don’t even recall fucking her. Some Alpha you’ll turn out to be.”

“I do, actually.” He murmured “Not all of it but bits of it, and I smelled a trace of blood in my room, and I actually did ask her if I’d taken her V-Card at Alpha College. She was very defensive about it, kneed me in the balls actually, because she knew I had and didn’t actually recall it was her, but was trying to get her to admit to it.”

His unit were all looking at him now. He shrugged, “Freaking hurt I tell you.” he answered their unspoken questions, of really? “She was also always with one of us, me or my unit, the girl never even so much as kissed a boy, wouldn’t allow herself to be seen as a girl, who was interested in boys.” He looked at Anders “Lest it be seen by Anders as a distraction, and he could demote her for it. She would never risk that, her position here inside the pack, she would wait for her Goddess-Gifted.”

“That proves nothing.” Hayden stated.

“I’d shut your mouth, boy, because I’m coming in there in a moment, and I’m going to order out of you the truth of the word you were going to use.”

“Whore.” Hayden yelled right at him “She’s a fucking whore, fucked you in the hope of getting herself pregnant, to keep her position or be ranked up by you, to stay above me, lord it over me always.”

Slade raised an eyebrow and turned to look at his father. “And that is the wolf you wanted for the pack Beta position?” he asked.

“He’s never been like this before.” Bronnie muttered to herself.

“This is the side of him Ori always saw, had to put up with, that he kept from you, dealt with every day, ignore all her life to prove she wasn’t a weak girl, but a Beta in Anders’ eyes. That what you are seeing, is the son you raised to believe he was better than his sister, but even he knew he couldn’t measure up to. Which caused the worst kind of sibling rivalry. Only now he shows his true colours to you, how spiteful he really is.”

“Our bloodline laws…” Hayden grated out

“Are nothing, pack laws come first over a bloodline law, unless that law pertains to the Alpha in charge’s own bloodline itself.” Slade snarled at him and turned back to Anders “Look at what you bred with always telling him your bloodline was more important than pack ascension laws; all that hatred and animosity in your own son, is your own doing. This is your and Bronnie’s direct fault. The two of you raised him to be like this.” He pointed to the two of them, “Why are you in here anyway?

Trying to console the boy like you always cater to him, and his pissing and moaning about things not being fair.”

“No.” Anders muttered at him, “To sever our kin bond with him, but we wanted you to be here for that. To show you we are loyal to the pack.”

“Leaving?” his father asked.

“Yes, to go out there and actively hunt for Ori. Why else would I leave? I only stayed this past year to find myself a new Beta, one that is loyal to me and not you.”

His father was staring at him with a deep frown on his face, but said nothing at all. Surely he had to know it was coming he’d told him long ago he was going to go out and search for her. Did his father really think he wouldn’t?

“Well?” he moved his eyes to Anders and Bronnie.

He watched them look at his father, who just sighed and shrugged his shoulders. The pack law stated they had to sever their kin bond to be loyal to the pack, and not be seen as traitors themselves. But it was now seen by him as them betraying their offspring and therefore traitors to their own bloodline. They were screwed either way.

He watched them renounce their kin bond and told them to get out the moment it was done. That boy hanging in the cells now held no rank at all, rejected from the beta bloodline. He yanked the cell door open and stepped inside. “A worthless wolf you turned out to be. You should just have turned yourself rogue, and left if you were that pissed off about all that went down. Now you have no-one to run to inside this pack, and none here are going to want anything to do with you.”

“Then turn me rogue, and I’ll leave.” Hayden glared up at him.

“Oh, no…if you think it’s going to be that easy, Hayden, you’d be dead wrong. You’re here for good.

I’ll never let you go now. You should have left when you had the chance.”

“I’ll go rogue.” Was snarled out at him, “any order you put on me will be obliterated when I do.”

“Go ahead, turn yourself rogue, you’re never getting out of this cell. It’s your new home from now until I find Ori and then…” he smiled at him “I’m going to let her come in here and give you the beating she likely has always wanted to…but held back because you were her kin, which you’re not now. I imagine there’s hatred brimming inside of her where you’re concerned. I’m going to let her release it all on to you. Until that day comes, do make yourself comfortable. You belong to me now, are my prisoner alone.”
