Ana
The day was long, and even longer after Maddie mind-linked to her that an unknown but very blonde Alpha, along with his Beta, had come into the café. They had sat and people watched from what she could tell. Though they’d only ducked in, she thought, to get out of a sudden flurry of snow.
Maddie had only gotten the Beta’s name, it was Vance. Ana had sat and thought about that, her childhood and other Beta-blooded wolves from allied packs, and there was one. She’d gotten the description of both men, both were tall, and that alpha had platinum blonde hair and bright blue eyes, was about six-three. It did fit the description of Slade.
His Beta was tall as well, with black hair and blue eyes himself, though darker, more of a steel blue, than bright blue like his Alpha. He looked as though he’d not shaved in a couple of days, and had taken a shine to Zara. She’d not seen or smelt his Gamma or Delta.
Ana wasn’t overly happy about it, it was likely going to be Slade. Who knew what had happened to Hayden? It could be any number of reasons, though it was none of her concern. All she knew was that she’d seen Yuri a few days ago, and now here was an Alpha and his Beta. The odds were high it was Slade.
Too much of a coincidence.
Why would he even bother to look for her, even if, just a spur of the moment thought because Yuri had likely mentioned running into her, he’d not wanted her for his Beta. He had betrayed her just like every one of the others, in the leadership of that pack. Or was it because she had attacked his Delta? Insulted him and his unit. She sighed, it was likely he was out there looking for her, to haul her ass in for punishment.
Her only concern was Ocean right this minute. She was at school, because there was no sign of them here in town. If he came across her, that kin bond would have him recognise his own child. Though she did scent of human, if he didn’t get a real good look at her, it might confuse him. She was hoping it would.
A kin bond would pass through the scent masking oil, nothing null and voided that, without one actively severing it. She wondered now if she should have had Ocean do that. Though it was not a nice feeling, hurt as much as going rogue had for her, she could well imagine if you were actually attached to your family and loved them, it was much more painful.
She also didn’t think it was fair of her to ask Ocean to sever her bond with her father, when she didn’t know the man himself. She had the right to go and hunt him down, later on in life, when she was fully realised and meet him. If that was something she wanted, of course, so she had never asked her to sever it. Didn’t actually know if Ocean could until she had her wolf.
Ana nearly sagged with relief when Zara walked into the house with Ocean, hugged her tightly and thanked her for bringing her home. “It’s alright.” Zara smiled at her.
“What’s going on?” Ocean asked, looking from her to Zara.
Ana sighed and walked her over to sit on the couch, sat down next to her “There is a group of wolves here in town.” she told her “Just precautions until they leave, so no school until they do.”
“Okay, are they mean nasty ones?” Ocean asked her.
“It’s unknown at this point why they are actually here, but they’re not from around here.”
“Visiting, is what I heard from the second.” Zara stated.
First, second, third and fourth, was how they referred to an Alpha and his unit, instead of stating their rank, and the word ‘group’ had been established so they could talk freely without saying wolves or Alpha Unit, or anything wolfen related, so no wolfen speak would be registered by any walking past the house, rogue or pack alike.
All of this Ocean also understood. They didn’t keep secrets from her. The only thing she didn’t know was who her father actually was. Ana had never told her his name or pack, because she’d never actually asked the question directly of her. This was her life and she was happy in it. She just lived with her mother and aunts and that was always how it had been, how it was going to stay.
She’d seen the occasional wolf out there in the town. Knew Alpha Austin and his unit, his Mate Sloan as well, so she understood there were many others out there, and could smell the difference between a pack member and a rogue wolf. Understood the very distinct difference.
“We’ll stay home for a few days, you and me, look after the house and all aunt Maddie’s gear.” she smiled at her. “Go and unpack your school gear.”
‘That Alpha. Zara mind-linked to her ‘Very nice looking.’
Ana didn’t really say anything, just looked at her, she knew what Slade looked like, had grown up with him and, yes, he was good-looking. But most Alphas were, it was in their genes. ‘Aren’t they all.’ was her only comment.
‘Who knows? I like you and Maddie, don’t care to look at Alphas, am not interested in them.
‘I know, how certain is Maddie, that it’s him.’
‘She took all the photos of you off the walls, he’s got the exact same hair colouring as Ocean, and his skin tone.’ Zara stated ‘I’d say if that Delta reported he saw you, it’s definitely him.
‘No pictures of him. Ana asked.
‘No, that would raise his suspicion. Why would some random person be taking his picture? If he noticed he’d wonder why, and that could lead him to track the one that did.’
‘I thought he was a good guy.” Londyn muttered, “Not so much now. I don’t understand why people cheat.
If you’re unhappy in your relationship or marriage, just state it, end it and then move on to another. There is no need for anyone to cheat on another, and lie about it. That’s just plain wrong.”
“Agreed,” they all answered.
“So, I took it upon myself as the first, to announce it to the town.” she smiled at Ana “There were three town folk all of them married in the café at the time.”
“It won’t take long for word to spread.” Maddie nodded, “He didn’t get coffee from me either. Though his deputy did, and with a smile and a come again.”
Ana shook her head “Don’t go ticking the law off.” she murmured as she ate.
“Too late.” Londyn snorted “My bite is worse than his. Let’s see him mess with my family.”
The whole table chuckled at that one, and they went about their normal nightly routine. She was expecting Peirce to come to the house now and have angry words with her, about what Londyn had done. She was going to let him, and just likely punch him once more, and dare him to arrest her for it. She’d make a hell of a scene and yes she’d tell those that he’d arrested her, that she’d punched him for cheating on her with his ex-wife.
He’d told her not to ruin his reputation, but he was the one that had ruined it. This was a small town, he should have known better, and ended it with her, before restarting something with that woman. Something like this always got out, it couldn’t be hidden.
The minute he was seen out in public with Felicity, it was all over for him, and she was certain that woman was going to want to be pushing that, even if it was just for Ana’s sake.
He’d been here four years and they knew his history, why he’d divorced his wife, that they didn’t even get along. Had ruined his own reputation, now he would be seen as the bad guy, not the town’s trustworthy sheriff.
It was likely going to be seen, that his cheating had started when Felicity had started to look for a place to live here in town. Well, that woman could move into his house now. She’d likely only house hunted because he’d still been with Ana, that was all. Now that was over, so his ex-wife could move on in with him, proving he was an asshole, to this town.
