Londyn
She’d not liked hearing the plan to get Alpha Slade and his unit to leave town, she understood why it was made, and wanted to help Ana even. But she also didn’t want to be a part of it at the same time, because that would mean sending her Mate away and likely never seeing him again.
Not something she wanted deep down. She knew that she wanted him to scent her out, hated having to hide this secret from her sisters. They’d taken her in and given her a home, a wolfen family. Everything she craved to have since Apple had come along, and she’d learned she wasn’t human.
She wanted to be loyal to them, as did Apple, but now they had a Mate, a man named Yuri, and she’d finally seen him in the flesh today. She had read those names on the cups; funny and normal. Apple was pretty certain after seeing him that Bosco was his wolf’s name. Wolves did things in rank order, even something as simple as ordering coffee. Bosco and Bonkers had always been, stated last because in their world the Delta was the fourth.
She stepped outside with that cup of tea, that Ana had made for her, who had realised that something was wrong with her, and made her apple cinnamon herbal tea, her favourite; she’d just not figured out what was wrong yet. Had likely been going to sit her down to talk to her, to figure it out. Londyn did believe that Ana was concerned about herself and her daughter being found by that Alpha, or one of his men.
Because she trained them all how to fight, even Ocean trained. She had been in training since she was four and half years old. It was something Ana was adamant that they all needed to learn to do, because one day they might need to fight it out.
Londyn had smelled her Mate as Ana had handed her that cup of tea. Somewhere in this house was a broken seal that let a slight breeze in, which had allowed for Yuri’s scent to filter to her.
The sun was only just getting ready to go down. She was already dressed for bed even though it was early. She was actually tired, and they always dressed the part of being human, so she had on big thick slippers that came halfway up to her knees and a fluffy robe to keep her warm while outside.
She saw him look right at her as he walked along that path at the other end of the yard, where all the walkers and joggers strolled along. Their yard wasn’t fenced off down there, so the tourists and locals could use that path around the lake uninterrupted.
He smiled right at her, likely not just out for a stroll, he was out there trying to scent Ana out and she knew it. She watched him turn and walk clear up the yard towards her, she yawned and leaned on the railing, which gave her an excuse to let Apple really breathe him in and scent for others.
There was another out here, not where she could see him, but she could smell him ‘Gamma.’ Apple told her picking up his rank, Londyn’s eyes never left the man walking towards her, this house had been bought by Alpha Austin for them to live in, and it kind of had a bit of a weird feeling to it, which stared halfway up the yard.
Yuri couldn’t place it, she didn’t think, but he noticed it, “May I help you?” she asked as he stepped up to the veranda.
“Good evening, it’s Londyn, right?” he stated, “I’m just looking for my friend.” He told her as he stepped up the stairs “Would you look at a picture for me?” he asked her.
Here we go she thought to herself, then thought, it’s never about me, annoyedly “I suppose there’s no harm in that.” She nodded and motioned for him to show her, as she turned around and leaned her bottom against the railing.
He held it out to her and touched the girl in the photo. Londyn looked right at it, it was what she thought it was, didn’t surprise her at all. “She’s pretty, got nice eyes.” She nodded and sipped her tea.
“Not a local around here?” he asked.
“I doubt it.” she shook her head. The scent of her Mate was so nice, and up this close, that it relaxed her completely, so answering his questions was easy to do. That photo he held out to her was a picture of him, Ana and the Gamma. They were all dressed up and looking nice in it “That’s you.” she touched the photo he was still holding out to her.
“Yes.” He nodded.
“How old were you?” she asked him, curious herself about him.
“18, we’re all 18 in that picture,” he smiled at her, and her heart rate increased a little as those chestnut brown eyes of his met hers, with a smile in them. He was the same age as Ana, 25, she now knew.
He was so very handsome, had a nice square jaw line and a neatly maintained beard, clean cut edges about it; she liked that too. Liked the slightly messy hairstyle he was sporting, it kind of looked like he’d not combed it, was like he’d just gotten out of bed.
His nose had this little bump in it, and those chestnut eyes sat beneath thick dark eyebrows. Her eyes met his once more and the corner of his mouth twitched up. She was checking him out and blatantly so, it amused him, she thought.
“You’ve got pretty eyes, Londyn.” He practically purred as he looked right into them, and her heart raced at the compliment from him. Her Mate thought she had pretty eyes.
She watched as he stepped closer to her, and sucked in a breath as his hand reached out to tuck a few loose strands of her hair behind her ear, and she felt hot sparks trail along her skin where his fingers brushed against her. “Charcoal grey, deep dark and mysterious.” He murmured softly.
Her heart was suddenly crashing around inside her chest at the feel of his touch, she watched his head tilt slightly and his smile deepened. Even though she knew he was assessing her every reaction to him, she couldn’t stop it, her Mate was touching her, and she more than liked it, wanted it.
She saw his eyes move to her mouth and then his thumb was touching her lip piercing. “This looks good on you.” his voice was all soft and husky now, and she leaned in towards him, wanting to be kissed by him
Londyn’s eyes moved right to Yuri now, and she saw him frown at Maddie. “Do you really think he’s going to stay here in this town, move here just because he beds you, he won’t Londyn. He’ll leave after he’s gotten what he wants. You know this, he is a tourist.” Maddie went on.
She was staring at her Mate now. He didn’t know what she was to Maddie, and she did know that unless he scented her out, he would never know what she was to him. She couldn’t just tell him she was his Mate, because he’d never believe her, one only believed when they and their wolf scented you back. He would leave.
Yuri was glaring up at Maddie now and Londyn turned and walked inside, away from him. Maddie was actually right, he would leave if they weren’t here for the next full moon. Never know what she was to him, and just leave her here without a second thought. She was just a human girl he could charm and seduce; walk away from.
He was likely out there just trying to seduce information out of her. It probably would have worked as well, she now realised and felt very stupid right that minute. What he’d been doing out there, could well have been exactly what her father had done to her mother. She didn’t know.
She saw Zara standing there in the hallway looking at her, and turned and walked away from her, only to have a hand land on her and a mind-link connect to her ‘It’s hard Londyn, don’t blame yourself, they know they’re attractive, and can use that to get what they want.’
‘Do they all do that? Wolves I mean. Flirt and use their good looks on everyone?’
‘Yes, you do it, I do it on shoots to get what we want, cash in hand, and to get out of trouble I use my Charm. It’s not really any different, they will all do it, just like we do.’
She huffed at Zara because now she realised, she was no different to them. He thought she was a human he could seduce, to get information out of her. She’d never seduced a man into her bed just to get information from them. But it seemed that her own Mate would. She walked off and closed herself into her bedroom.
She had liked hearing that he thought her eyes were pretty, but now just wondered if it was just a pick-up line. How was she going to keep her secret from her sisters, or keep their trust and love if she told them what he was to her? She didn’t know the answer to that question.
But she didn’t think that it would go down so well, she’d known for a week now and not told anyone she’d scented out her mate. If he was still here on the full moon, when it came and set, and he scented her out, how was she going to deal with him?
It would likely out her to Yuri what she was, if he wanted her, and they Marked and Mated. He and that unit would suddenly be looking at Maddie and Zara with new eyes as well.
She needed to figure out what to do.
