Zara
She was standing in the café with Maddie and Londyn. The day had been uneventful, and Londyn was a bit off until just after lunchtime. She’d been watching her interactions with Slade and the Alpha unit. It was a full curiosity to her now, she knew Londyn had never had anything to do with wolves before. That a part of her obviously wanted to interact with them.
It was always the Beta, Vance, that came to the counter. She found it highly amusing that he was attracted to her. She knew she smelled human to him, it seems he didn’t care about that, a girl was a girl to that man. She’d been careful not to use her Gamma ability on him, or any of them. That would just out her to all of them, as being wolfen, so she did not use it or attempt to in thier presence.
She just smiled at him, and thought it was a bit funny to be honest. He had really taken a shine to her, the way he leaned on the counter and smiled right at her, made sure to get his arms on that counter and show off his muscles as well as that handsome smile of his, and it was more than nice.
He flirted constantly, and she thought it was not only funny but also kind of cute, but she wasn’t about to go there; though she thought it was hilarious how Maddie called him ‘not for Zara. Tickled her funny bone.
She’d become curious about Londyn and Slade getting into it the other day. Normally, that man didn’t interact with any of them, two Alpha-bloods arcing up at each other, only he didn’t know what Londyn was.
He was going to have to watch himself, or he might just find a set of claws in him, unwittingly. Londyn did have a temper, and it revolved around her protecting her sisters, though she also knew anyone harassing or trying to shove her or harm herself, in particular, would set off Londyn in an instant.
They were very closely bonded to each other, had been like family ever since Zara had found a terrified Londyn out in the woods and calmed her down, explained what she was to her. Had used her Gamma’s ability on her to settle her and get her to understand.
Londyn had never left her side after that, accepted her as family even before they’d come here and been blood bonded to each other, to Maddie and Ana. They’d saved each other, many times out there on their own, over the years before coming here and being part of a family. Truly being a family, something both she and Londyn did crave, that social aspect of wolves. Having that blood bond was good for them, and having Maddie’s protective oil was a true blessing.
Londyn’s annoyed attitude all day had gotten worse when Officer Ross had walked into the café to get a round of coffee for those on duty that afternoon, and he’d asked how Ana was doing? He’d tried to make it sound casual, she noted.
Londyn had stepped right up to the counter, practically shoved Zara out of the way and had grated out” Tell Peirce to go and…”
Maddie had cut her off with the clearing of her voice and a hard warning look, “Fine,” she’d answered the man, “I would prefer you or anyone at the station, no longer discuss Ana at all.”
He’d simply nodded, and then handed Maddie a note as he’d accepted the coffee. They’d all stood and read it when Maddie had unfolded it.
‘If you all need help, it will be given, I assure you. Peirce.’
Zara had felt anger roll off Londyn. She didn’t want Peirce to have anything to do with Ana ever again, that Zara was getting loud and clear, he’d hurt her sister, and he was done in Londyn’s eyes. He had no right to be anywhere near Ana anymore, as far as Londyn was concerned.
Zara latched onto her “calm down.” She’d stated as she’d rolled her Gamma’s Charm gently over her, “We all have bigger things to concern ourselves with.”
Londyn had huffed and muttered “I’m going to my gallery” and had stalked off out of and away from the café and when she’d come back that afternoon she’d been much calmer. Seemed to have just relaxed and settled herself down.
It was an hour before closing when those four men walked into the café, and she heard Maddie huff in annoyance. Zara nearly shook her head, but noted that each of them looked at all three of them, that was a bit weird to her. There was curiosity between the four of them about the three of them.
She watched as Maddie moved Londyn right out of the way, and put her behind the coffee machine after seeing Yuri smile right at Londyn. He was not at all deterred by the words Maddie had spoken to him just yesterday. She could also feel Londyn’s actual interest in the man.
“Take away?” Maddie asked.
“No, we’ll eat in thanks, been out hiking all day, and we are starving.” Vance told her, though his eyes moved right to herself, and he smiled at her. Zara nearly chuckled, undeterred as much as that Delta was for Londyn, by Maddie’s attitude.
“Plenty of that to do around these parts, but better in the summer time.” Maddie answered him simply, and handed the man four menus. “I’ll come and take your order shortly, we’re closing the kitchen in 30 minutes.
Oh, it was more than just scenting out a wolf on the breeze, Zara realised. As she now really thought about Londyn’s actions and words since these men had turned up. Londyn had scented out her Goddess-Gifted Mate and was trying to hide it from all of them, had managed to do so even.
Zara even knew why, because he was Slade’s Delta, no wonder she was off, annoyed and cranky…, he had not scented her out, likely unconscious at the time of her scenting him, likely been unconscious all night, until after the moon phase had passed.
It was all one-sided at this point. If it wasn’t, that man would have been at the house long before just yesterday, would have tracked her with vengeance to claim what was his; put himself right in front of her that very night. Would be in this café every damned day trying to get Londyn, who he thought was human, to date him.
He had no idea, and that was what was arcing up all of Londyn’s annoyance and anger. It also definitely accounted for why Londyn had nearly succumbed to Yuri last night. Her own Mate had been trying to kiss her, had his hand on her, she’d feel all those Mate Bond sparks on her skin, he’d also told her she was beautiful, something Londyn, as his Mate, would love to hear.
It also accounted for her then being annoyed and angry as well. When she realised it was all an act, just to draw information out of her, she and Apple likely wanted their Mate. But they were very confused as to what to do about him, would know he’d not scented them. Also, be confused about his affiliation with Ocean’s dad, and the man Ana didn’t want to see or be around.
Zara nearly sighed out loud as she realised what was going on. She didn’t normally feel out her sisters, didn’t need to. They were happy in their lives. She’d missed all of this because she’d never even considered that Londyn had scented out a Mate on the full moon.
She heard Vance state that Zara could take his order, and Maddie state right back, “I’ll be the one to do that.”
Londyn had huffed “I could do it, and solve the issue.”
Maddie had looked at Londyn and stated, “I don’t think so. Not for Londyn is over there. Just like, Not for Zara is, so it will be me who takes the order,” Maddie stated.
Zara nearly sighed out loud at those very words because ‘Not for Londyn’ was actually going to be ‘For Londyn’ come the full moon. Was already that in Londyn’s eyes. Things around here were about to start
