Not just the Beta (Oriana and Slade) novel Chapter 160

Slade

He did manage to give that folder to Ana, well he’d actually handed it to Maddie. She’d been the one to accept it from him, hadn’t driven away while he had ducked off to his car to get it.

He couldn’t stop her from leaving the restaurant. It was getting late, and she was right, Ocean would have school in the morning. He also didn’t want to stop her. She had come and brought Ocean. He’d gotten a proper introduction as he’d wanted for this dinner.

He was trying not to push her too much, but he did need her to read that file, it was quite extensive, he’d documented everything over the years. Slade saw Maddie look at it; it wasn’t just a few pages, it was almost two and a half inches thick.

He’d looked at Ana and then Ocean, smiled at his little girl and raised a hand to her, when Maddie had started to drive away, to his surprise, Ocean raised a hand back at him, a small wave in return to his gesture.

He felt relief flood through him, she’d stated plainly he was a stranger and that she wouldn’t go and live with him, and he’d thought that was going to be her stance, but a simple small gesture on her part, showed him that maybe she might want to get to know him. It was a start and that was all he had been hoping for from this dinner.

He walked back inside the restaurant and saw a very unimpressed-looking Zara at the way Yuri was touching Londyn’s face, all soft and sweet-like, he’d warned his men about behaving. He could also see that Londyn was looking to be kissed by the man.

Frowned when he saw her lean forward and just press her lips to Yuri’s and the man actually kissed her back, Vance and Palmer both chuckled, and he made his way back over to the table and cleared his throat. “Yuri, what did I tell you, before coming here?” he asked.

“It wasn’t Yuri boss,” Vance snorted “Londyn kissed him.”

“I saw.” He muttered. “But Yuri should know better.” He looked at Zara. “I’m sorry for Yuri’s…” he looked at the man. He’d pulled himself from Londyn, and she looked unhappy about it. “I’d appreciate this not getting back to Ana.” He sighed,

“Londyn will do as she pleases, and she’ll tell both Maddie and Ana, likely Ocean as well.” Zara shrugged.”

Ana also won’t care all that much.”

“Why not? I thought.”

“Don’t think you know so much about her. That will be your biggest mistake. Ana is not Oriana. She does not exist anymore. A mere moment of panic got a hold of her was all. That has passed, you’d do well to remember that in all your future interactions with her,” Zara told him.

“She did chuckle at the table boss,” Palmer stated, “and was as amused as Maddie was.”

“I’m well aware she was amused, about putting the council between her and I. That was what amused her.

“No, it wasn’t.” Zara stated. “It was simply Ocean’s boldness in telling you Austin will come to her aid if she asks him too.”

Slade frowned at her. “If Ocean asks him to?”

“Yes.” She smiled right at him. “Where do you think she gets those pretty beads for her hair?”

“I have no idea.” He shook his head.

“You’ve never actually met Austin, have you?” Zara asked.

“No, why?”

“No reason,” she smiled at him and then tugged on Londyn’s arm, “Stop that before you get carried away, I know it’s new to you kissing… one like him.”

He could smell arousal coming off Londyn, as could everyone here, including Yuri, and though he’d pulled his mouth from the girl he was still smiling at her. He nearly yelled at his Delta when he saw him reach out and caress the girl’s cheek ‘Enough.’ He shot down the mind-link and Yuri’s eyes moved right towards him and the man reined it in, instantly.

Londyn’s eyes turned right to him, when Yuri apologised to him, and he saw the annoyance in them, he nearly sighed out loud. It was very direct eye contact, and it didn’t waver at all.

That, he understood, Londyn was the Alpha-blood in this group. It was in the way she was now glaring at him, unconcerned about ticking him, an Alpha Wolf off, unconcerned because she herself was an Alpha Wolf and held the same rank as him, but he didn’t know anything about her to know what she would do with a challenge.

They were all still scent-masked as humans, so he had no idea if she was pure-blooded or not. “I don’t mean to offend Londyn, but I don’t think Maddie would approve of Yuri doing that, do you?” he asked her.

“Maddie won’t care,” Londyn stated flatly, but got up. He watched as Zara stood directly after her, and when he thought about it now, Londyn had walked into this restaurant first and had been uncaring to wait for her other sisters. She had B-lined Yuri.

Putting herself right there next to him and now was kissing the man openly, Palmer was likely going to be right, especially if Ana and Maddie wouldn’t care about what had just happened. They all already knew she’d scented out Yuri, in other words. “Perhaps, by way of an apology, Yuri should escort you home,” he stated.

“To the car is fine, we brought two cars,” Zara answered him.

“Is your Jeep fixed already?” Yuri asked.

“No, simply got a hire car with our insurance.” Londyn smiled at Yuri. “I accept being escorted to the car.” She stated and then turned and looked right at Slade. “You can pay for dinner seeing as you wanted it.”

He frowned right at her, and she raised an eyebrow at him, then looked at Yuri a bit on the expectant side.

He watched Yuri smile and shrug at him, then get up and follow both girls out.

“She’s the Alpha to their group.” He sighed.

“No, she’s not,” Vance stated as he leaned back in his seat.

“Agreed.” Palmer nodded. “Though Londyn is definitely an Alpha-blood, I got that from her. She had no fear of you, Slade, enjoyed staring you down even.”

“Great,” Slade muttered.

“You might want to warn you man,” she stated.

“That is considered coercion. I won’t do it.” Slade frowned now,

“Then expect consequences, if he rejects Londyn, if she can’t contain herself.” Zara stated and left.

He mind-linked right to Yuri, ‘Watch yourself, that girl I just found out has never had a wolfen lover, she could get carried away!

‘I’m only playing with her, I don’t intend to bed her. That could tick Ana off, but a little fun is alright, boss.

Yuri stated.

‘If she bites you, don’t reject her Yuri, that could see a full feud between us and them. Londyn is confirmed to be Alpha-blooded. Never lived inside a pack, and doesn’t understand our ways.

‘Alright.’ Yuri told him and closed out the link.

Slade looked at his men. “Yuri states he’s only out to have a bit of fun, not to bed Londyn.”

“Hmm, it could still get carried away.” Vance murmured.

“It’s a wait and see situation.” Slade could only nod.

“I’m guessing Londyn is Yuri’s actual Mate from all I have just heard, between the two Gammas,” Vance stated, looking from him and then to Palmer.

“I did think so, with how she was and what I felt from her, but nothing was confirmed till now. Zara

confirmed my suspicions.” Palmer nodded.

“So, Slade, that’s two of us mated to two of them. Very interesting.” Only leaves you and I, and I already believe Selena will have Zara fall into my lap. I think our Goddess is helping you out. She’s going to bring us all together in order to help resolve this colossal mess.”

“Only the full moon will tell,” Slade stated. He would like that, but his life was never that easy, so he wasn’t going to think about it. “Let’s go home, Yuri can make his way back on foot.”
