Slade
He and the boys headed upstairs as per the council’s request to get changed for his ascension to the pack Alpha, “Moving very quickly.” Vance stated while they rode the elevator. “Not even I was expecting it to all happen today.”
“No, I thought tomorrow or maybe the day after.” Slade nodded, though he had known he was going to be busy over these coming days, and it was likely from what he’d just heard, that he wasn’t going to get to spend much time with Ana or Ocean. Now that he was home, the pack had to come before himself and what he wanted. That was what an Alpha was; a person who protected their pack and put it before their own needs.
He didn’t much like it, but once it was all sorted out and the issues resolved, he’d have a lot of time to spend with Ana and Ocean.
“Are you nervous?” Palmer asked him.
“Not about the ascension, no. About the pack pledge,” he sighed “Half the pack or more even, could opt not to pledge and leave… Hell, the entire pack could do it.” he murmured.
“I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Vance stated. “Not with the King’s involvement. I’ve heard a lot about Christian, he’s fair and just, trying to right all the wrongs his own father left him to deal with,” he chuckled suddenly, “He’s just like you.”
“Could well be why you have his support.” Yuri stated as the doors opened, and they got out on the top floor. “A bit of a shock about Clay, though.”jobnib.com
“Indeed, not even I saw that coming. Poor kid, got dumped on just like the rest of us, he’s not strong enough to take father on, just like I wasn’t at the time.” Slade sighed “At least he saw it, dealt with it the best way he could and found away to protect the woman he loves and his child from his father.” Unlike himself.
“Likely took a page out of your book, on that one.” Palmer murmured, “by the time you left he knew what was going on, was 16 and likely understood more than he let on.”
“Didn’t even tell Dariah, kept everything close to his chest.”
“Had to, I imagine. It could well be your father was on him the moment you went back to Alpha College and none of us saw it. The boy was only 14 at that time.” Vance nodded.
He came to a halt as they stepped into the corridor where all their suites were, and found six omegas standing there, all lined up, the pack’s head omega Narell, and her daughter Anika at the front. They all bowed their heads to him. “Alpha, it’s good to have you home. Alpha unit.” They greeted him and his unit, showing full respect.
“It’s nice to be home. Better circumstances of course, would have been nice.” He greeted them back”
You’re all looking well, that is good.”
“We are well.” Narell stated “Alpha, once you’ve been instated, I do have a small request. If I may speak of it now?”
He nodded, there was no harm in hearing them out, and they had helped him out long ago. “Of course, go ahead Narell.”
“I’d like Anika to take over my roll as head omega for the Alpha floor, and the ranked members floors. I have been training her.”
“May I ask why Narell?” he asked. She wasn’t all that old. Only in her 60s, this was a job one aspired to and having the head Omega position was like being a ranked member of their own class; got a nice house and full respect. Didn’t actually do any hard labor, was responsible for the rostering and training of new omegas. Checking the cleanliness of the work attended to.
“Of course, Alpha, Ankia is loyal to you and your unit. I have served the former Alpha and Luna and, with them being forcibly stepped down, so should I,” she stated.
“I don’t think it’s necessary, but if that is what you want, Narell,” he stated and watched her smile at Anika and nod.
“It is,” she nodded “she’s also expecting new siblings in a few months, so I would take off anyway.”
“What?” he blinked and took a few seconds to realise what she meant. “Congratulations Narell. I think your replacement will do well. But please don’t think you have to step down just because you were appointed by the previous leadership.”
“It’s not that. I’m having triplets, found out a week ago, and it will be taxing for me, so stepping down and resting is best. I will oversee her into the new role until the pups are born.”
He nodded “I can respect that request.” He nodded.
He stepped out of his suite carrying that watch, and the boys were all there waiting for him. He nodded, and they headed downstairs, handed that watch over to Alpha Austin. “This is the watch I was given by Elise, the Luna, at the time I got my wolf.” He stated.
“I’ll have it tested.” Austin nodded “Some of the pack member’s jewellery have come back clean, they have been informed and relief washed through them, a few of them were mated. So that is some good news.”
He just nodded “A little less chaos come the full moon.” Slade sighed.
“Hmm. It will be a tough one I feel, though…”
“Though?” Slade prompted.
Austin waved it off. “Nothing, just a passing thought. Now, Slade, we’ll be using a different blade. Your father’s has been rescinded, so a new one has been issued. It’ll activate when Hailey officially initiates you.
”
“Hailey? Not yourself?” he asked.
Austin smiled. “Hailey is the one in charge, she is also a pure-blood and much older than I am, out ranks me by age and experience. I’m second in command of the Wolfen Council.”
He’d not known that was how it worked within the council, just presumed there was an elected leader, seems not it went on bloodline and age of said bloodline. Though he doubted anyone but the Wolfen Council and the King understood the inner workings of the council.
He turned at the entrance of Hailey into the Alpha’s office, and she looked right at him and smiled Afternoon, Slade, it’s nice to see your doing well,” she stated as she walked across the office, she was carrying a long wooden box, “Seeing as you’re here and dressed, let’s get to the end your kin’s reign and tyranny over this pack.”
She tapped the box in her hand, “I have completed the ritual, Austin, and we are ready to strip Roman’s blood from this place and instate a whole new leadership line, as per the King’s requirements.”
