Slade
He took a phone call from Yuri about Hayden losing his temper in the school cafeteria after he’d overheard a bunch of school students, who’d been talking about how they missed Oriana. Hayden had stalked over to their table and told them that Oriana didn’t hold his position because she wasn’t actually entitled to do so.
He’d spoken very loud and clear, stating for all to hear, that his sister had thrown a tantrum over him, naturally ascending to the position of the pack’s future Beta. That Slade had chosen himself over Oriana, and she’d thrown a fit because she was spoiled and entitled.
She thought that the position was hers just because she’d been born first, that it was in fact his right as the firstborn son of the Beta line to be the future Beta. Not her. She was a girl and couldn’t and wouldn’t ever be an actual Beta. She had no right to be at all and had tried to keep him from his birthright, at every turn.
That the Alpha and his own father had simply stepped him up, with Slade’s own permission, into his rightful place within the pack’s ascension protocols and she overreacted. Acted like a child.
Pitched a fit and ran away of her own accord, because she was spoiled and selfish.
A wolf named Derby had stood up to Hayden, stepped right up to him and called him the entitled one. Stated right to Hayden’s face, in front of the entire cafeteria, that he knew Oriana had worked damned hard to be the pack’s future Beta. Had pointed right at Hayden and stated “Something you’ve never done, worked for it. You yourself just stated it’s your position, you are entitled to have it, because you’re a boy, you’re the one that’s fucking entitled.”
Hayden had punched Derby, and when the table before them had agreed with Derby, Hayden had rolled his Beta Aura at them all. He was now fully realised at 18, and two of those wolves had been omegas and been brought low by him, blood had come from their noses. Not that Hayden had cared about it.
Derby had helped the omegas up, and mind-linked to the pack doctor and the headmaster, to get medical attention for the two wolves. While Hayden had continued to yell about Ori not deserving the position. Stated she was the one that was in the wrong, not him, he yelled at them all ‘Ori doesn’t deserve it, and you want to know why, because she used those eyes of hers to seduce Slade into keeping her by his side, she batted her eyelashes up at him and flirted with Slade in order to keep her position.’
Hayden had turned to leave the room after that, and when he’d turned and walked away uncaring of the injuries, he’d caused those two wolves. Derby had staked off after him and had grabbed Hayden and yanked him around, punched him right in the gut with everything he’d had yelled ” You’re a piece of shit, you don’t even care about injuring others in the pack. You’re disrespectful to this pack, just an entitled asshole, who continues to stab his sister in the back, stole from her what was rightfully hers; because an heir doesn’t depend on gender, it is the firstborn. That’s this pack’s law.”
Hayden had punched Derby, who’d snarled at him, “You’re a traitor to the Beta bloodline, to this pack’s ascension laws. No one will trust you after what you did.”
Hayden had launched himself at Derby and a full-on fight had broken out. The headmaster himself had come and gotten between them, pulled them apart and hauled the two of them off to the Alpha’s office.
Both he and Palmer were called to the Alpha’s office to hear those wolves explain themselves, because he and Palmer were the future Gamma and Delta and were in charge of Hayden until Slade got back. Seeing as they were older, and he was still undergoing training, and not yet up to the level he needed to be.
That neither he nor Palmer had said anything, not even when Hayden had looked at them
expectantly to defend him, Yuri had thought. That Palmer was currently walking the two wolves to the cells to be punished.
The school’s headmaster was a pack elder and insisted on full pack punishment be instated; to Hayden, for his lack of restraint and that he’d harmed two omegas, walked away uncaring of their injuries, and rolling his aura at others during school hours, that he’d also rolled it at the headmaster himself, when he’d tried to break up the fight.
So, Hayden was now getting a week in the cells, because both of those omegas were now in the pack hospital under the care of a doctor. One had only just turned 16, sitting with her older sister who’d also been injured.
Whereas Derby only got two days in the cells, he got a reduced punishment because he’d not only reported it, but called for medical help and helped the omegas. But he got two days for punching the future Beta and insulting the Beta bloodline.
Slade had snorted fully amused “A week in the cells, I like it.” he’d also liked hearing that Derby was only 17 and took it upon himself to defend Ori. Seem’s Ori had more loyal to her in the pack than she likely knew..
He knew no one was supposed to talk about what happened, it seemed they wanted to and she had pack support. Hayden did not, and was likely to lose more than his title at the rate he was going.
“Make sure Derby gets a nice gift from me, go talk to his friends and find out what the boy likes or wants and gift it to him from me. As for Hayden…” he thought about that, “Make sure to tell him I just heard what he did. Said about his sister, and remind him of who I believe should be my Beta. That I’ll be dealing with him when I get home, as I said I would, if he stepped out of line and said anything nasty about his sister.”
“Slade?”
So yes, he did believe it was Hayden that had punctured Ori’s spare beyond repair, in order to sabotage her.
Slade had every intention of handing that evidence to his father. He was curious as to if Anders knew what his son had gotten up to over the years, in order to see his way into getting moved up the line of ascension.
Slade wanted to stand there and see their expressions, see their reaction to it. Would they get annoyed with Hayden or with Slade for looking into it? Try to show Hayden in a bad light? Would they blip over all that boy’s indiscretions, or punish him for it? And if they opted to punish him. Just what would it be? A proper pack punishment or the bare minimum?
If he couldn’t discern if they knew about all that boy’s doings, the type of punishment he got would tell him what he wanted to know.
Slade had all this time at Alpha College to sit and think about things, and what and how he was going to go about them. No one in that place could see it or hear it, and so it wouldn’t get back to his father or Anders.
Though over the past 10 months his father had become unhappy with their phone calls; that Slade was still ticked off about what had happened, that he knew Palmer and Yuri were not properly bonding with Hayden, he felt that it was because Slade himself had told them not to. Slade never admitted to this, just stated “Perhaps father, they are as ticked off as I am, that Ori was screwed over, and Hayden was all happy and smug about it on the day.”
That was all he ever said on the subject. Though Palmer had told Slade that they’d told Hayden he had his own social circle and should keep that, that their circle was filled with Ori’s friends, and they didn’t want to be friends with him.
That had annoyed Hayden, and he’d wanted to go and tell them to get over it. Palmer had told him
“I wouldn’t, might get your ass kicked in a group beating.” And he’d stalked off away unhappy about it.
He also knew that over the last few months, Hayden had found himself on the training ground with their circle of friends, and they’d given him a beat down in training prior to him turning now, just like Slade had wanted.
