Not just the Beta (Oriana and Slade) novel Chapter 65

Ana

She stood behind the counter staring at a young green-haired girl with big dark charcoal grey eyes, she was standing chatting with a red-haired girl. They were both trying to decide on what coffee they wanted to have.

Ana was patiently waiting for them to decide. It wasn’t the hair colour that had her undivided attention though. It was that these two girls standing before her were both she-wolves. The red-haired girl was a Gamma-blooded rogue, was what China was picking up. As they casually breathed in these two she-wolves scents. Kept their breathing light like a regular person, no big deep breaths that would be picked up by either of them, to let them know what she herself was.

Whereas the other was Alpha-blooded, though curiously, she was not a rogue herself, but China could not pick up a pack scent on her either. She didn’t understand how that was even possible.

Considering she could clearly smell that she was wolfen, how did one not have a pack scent but then also not smell of rogue status.

They both looked happy and healthy, were carrying not only cash but bank cards as well. She’d taken note of it when that Alpha she-wolf paid for their coffee after finally deciding on what they wanted.

Ana had smiled at them and told them to have a seat as she wrote their names on the two cups; Londyn and Sara. She was currently alone in the café, Maddie had gone off to buy more milk after an unexpected tour bus had unloaded right outside the front of the café and half of them had come in here for coffee.

She stepped behind the coffee machine and mind-linked to Maddie, ‘Get back to the café quick. I got an Alpha she-wolf in here with no discernible pack scent, but she’s also not a rogue. Definitely a she-wolf, and she’s sitting in here with a rogue she-wolf. Come in together.’

‘What?’ Maddie sounded confused.

‘Hurry back.’ Ana murmured.

It had taken Maddie five minutes to walk back into the café and glance around as she headed towards Ana. She looked at the two of them briefly, smiled and nodded to them when they both looked at her.

It was Maddie that walked the coffees over to the two she-wolves. There was a bit of a wait with just Ana behind the counter. She introduced herself even, smiled down at that young Alpha and stated, “I love your hair, I wish I could do that.” Then she’d run a hand over her super curly hair and

chuckled softly. “Ana, my sister often has purple or pink hair,” she smiled at the two of them, she was currently an ash blonde, and was letting that pixie cut grow out, her hair was still short. “I tried it once, kinda looked like a clown it went so badly wrong.” Maddie laughed.

Maddie had returned to the counter and looked right at her, mouthed ‘I don’t know.’ It was quiet in here after the rush left, they had four other tables now sitting drinking coffee and having cake, one inside and three outside sitting under the shade of the café’s umbrellas.

She stood there with Maddie and put her phone on the counter as though they were looking at something on it. “What do you think?” she asked.

“I honestly don’t know.” Maddie shook her head.

A man came in 20 minutes later and stated “Sara, there you are. It’s time for the photo shoot.”

“Coming, Mr Wells.” Sara, being the redheaded girl, called out and stood up.

“Are you two models?” Ana asked, as the two of them headed for the door.

“Sara is.” Londyn smiled, “She’s got a photo shoot for the new lakeside resort. Then the girl looked right at her. “You know, with those eyes you could likely model glasses. I bet you’d be a hit. I could likely hook you up if you want.” She smiled at Ana, and then walked over and fished out a card, and handed it to her.

A simple bright green business card “Let me know

Sara and I travel all over the country for jobs.”

“You move around a lot?” Maddie asked, picking the card up..

“Yes, rarely in one place for more than a day or two. Us girls we gotta make a living.” She smiled.

“Doesn’t your family miss you?” Maddie asked.

“I ain’t got no family.” She shrugged “It’s just me and Sara,”

Now that got both her and Maddie’s attention, she turned the card over and looked for a pack logo; there wasn’t one. The front read Sara White, Model and the back had four pictures of Sara and two of her and Londyn together, all modelling shots, then there was an sss address at the bottom next to a website address.

They watched Londyn walk away, and Maddie looked at her. Ana shrugged she didn’t know what to do with these two girls and would leave it up to Maddie. She’d judged Ana correctly. It was likely she could do those two as well.

“Londyn.” Maddie called out to her. “We haven’t got a family either.”

The girl raised an eyebrow at them, “Okay.” She said, looking a little on the confused side, then walked out of the café.

“Smell like Sara, normally.” Maddie stated in her normal tone of voice, and they both saw Londyn turn and look at the two of them. Her step hesitated, and she had a frown on her face as she looked from Maddie to Ana. Made direct eye contact even. She’d heard Maddie’s words and been surprised by them.

Ana smiled right at her and nodded. “It’s lonely not having a family, we know. Why we’re sisters.” She stated and saw that frown deepen, but then she just turned and walked away.

They had just given themselves away to that girl as being rogues too. She’d said she didn’t have a family and Sara was a rogue, so that meant she didn’t have a pack. It was likely they were both pack-less.

They might just need a place to live and others to call family. She didn’t know. But if they did, Anal already knew that she and Maddie would likely offer sanctuary to the two of them. Just like Maddie had done for herself. It was Maddie’s nature to want to help.

Ana also knew that she wouldn’t mind having other she-wolves around, maybe some more sisters.

Packs were usually large and very social. Adding two more to their little family would be nice.

What harm could it do to bring in a few more she-wolves if they were in need of friends or family even? It could only be a good thing, and Ocean would grow up with more of a pack-like socialisation too. That would be good for her little girl.

They both waited patiently for Londyn and Sara to return, and ask questions, but it didn’t happen.

There wasn’t much they could do about it, and as they locked up for the night, she heard Maddie huff “They need my oil. I would gladly have given it to them, and let them go on their way.”

“I know.” Ana nodded as they headed home. “Not much we can do about it. Maybe we scared them off.”

“Maybe,” Maddie nodded, “Perhaps, I could contact them and offer it. Send it to them, that way they can be safe out there.”

“That’s a good idea” Ana nodded “I’ll do it, you hit the intranet and see what you can find out about Londyn, and her not scenting of a pack.”

“Alright.” Maddie smiled right at her “that will bring Austin back this way.” she chuckled.

“Looking for round

Whoa, are we?” Ana snorted, amused.

“Hells, yes. I’ll shove that man’s face right down there.” Maddie burst out laughing at her own. words, and Ocean clapped from the car seat in the back.

Her little girl had no idea what was going on but reacted to them both laughing in the car now, was a happy little girl. Ana liked that, just how happy she was. Ocean was always up for cuddles and kisses, so very cute all the time.
