Maddie
She spent the next day changing all their ID’s to make sure they all had the same last name. They were all now part of the Forester family and explained to both Londyn and Zara, what they had told the town about them, was that they had the same dad but not the same mums. Which accounted for them looking nothing alike, that it was best they both stated the same thing when asked. Londyn had snorted, full amused by this, “So our father is a get about, huh. Ain’t that fitting! It is likely I have unknown siblings from everything I’ve heard about Alpha males, and well…look at me, alone and unknown to him. He’s certainly not what you’d call responsible, now is he.” She’d laughed “So let’s say my dumbass of a dad, whoever he is, wherever he is, is our dad. He kinda fits the bill anyway.”
She and Ana had both chuckled at Londyn’s words “Alright, your dumbass of a dad’s name is now one Mr Casey Forester, but we just call him dad, when people ask.”
“Casey Forester.” She heard Zara murmur “I can deal with that.”
Londyn just shrugged “It doesn’t bother me, if I ever actually come across him, my real dad. I’m not likely to go, hey dad how are you? I missed you. I’m likely going to want to beat the hell out of him, for being so freaking irresponsible as to leave me out there unaware of what I was, to scare the hell out of me and my grandma. I can only imagine how my mum would have felt, realising she’d had sex with a wolf.”
“Your grandma, was she okay?” Ana asked her now.
“Mm, the police found her passed out in the house, and the paramedics took her to the hospital. I called her after I was calm and understood what happened was, like I don’t know, a month or two later and apologised, told her I’d accidently mixed my meds up with hers, and she had a bad reaction to it was all.” she sighed.
“And you just never went home after that?” Maddi asked with a frown.
“She asked me not to, told me she wasn’t comfortable with me in the house anymore, I was being treated for schizophrenia, so I understand. I wouldn’t be either. I don’t know if she believed me or not. She was not senile. Still isn’t.
“I call every few months to see how she’s doing and send money home to her when I can, but I don’t visit. And she doesn’t ask me to. I send photos when she asks. I kind of get it. She’s worried about me but likely terrified of me at the same time.” Londyn shrugged “what can you do?”
Taking them to the café and getting them to work there was easy. Both of them had held down part-time jobs over the past two years and, Londyn before that even, it was just a matter of teaching them how to use the machine. Bussing tables was easy for the pair of them, they’d both done that before.
They just kind of fell into place here in their new life, as much as Ana had when she’d come to this town, and Maddie had welcomed her to the family. She liked that, chatted to them about many things as they worked, or sat around at the house, hit the markets, the girls could actually buy more clothes for themselves, weren’t limited by what they could fit into that suitcase they trailed everywhere, anymore.
They already had passports, but she had to change those due to giving them new identities; it wasn’t that hard, she’d worked Ana’s. Little Ocean was the only one with an actual true passport because her human birth certificate had her as Ocean River Forester. They’d thought it was funny to have it all matching. Ocean might not later in life, but it was too late now.
The girls often worked away for modelling shoots, all over the country, even up in Canada. A place they were off to, in just two months’ time, for a ski clothing company in Whistler that often used Sara White as one of their models. She was wholesome and family friendly, fitted in nicely as the eldest daughter when they did family shoots. Is how she explained it.
Zara was staring at her and Ana “Why don’t you come, it’ll be fun a few days up there in the snow.”
“I’m in,” Maddie smiled “Ana?”
She’d watched Ana sit and think about it, a slight frown on her face, then she’d nodded “On one condition.” She’d smiled at Zara. “You and Londyn make up a specialty drink of your own, that we can serve to the customers, Maddie, Ocean and I all have them. All of us sisters should have one.”
“Done.” They’d both laughed.
“You’ll love it up in Whistler, lots of shopping and good food, skiing or snowboarding if you like, building snowmen, all of us together with Ocean.” Zara had smiled.
“Happy family snaps our first real family holiday together.” Londyn smiled “I got a nice camera.”
She was happy and excited with her new family, and to be going away on a family vacation because she was going to organise and pay for everything. A real trip, a full week away, was already doing the rosters for the café to cover her and Ana being gone for a week. Organising flights and accommodation. She’d never been to Whistler before, and neither had Ana nor little Ocean; it was going to be fun.
Though Londyn and Zara were a little shocked that Maddie was going to pay for it all, she’d waved them off. “I’m not short a quid.” She’d smiled at them “Just let me, a nice hotel, and comfortable flights. I’ll sort it all out, just leave it to me.” she’d told them happily.
She was now looking at Ana sitting in front of her. As she did, she realised she’d dropped all the colour from her hair, gone back to being a brunette over the past six months, and she could actually see the concern in Ana right this minute, about being in an airport.
Maddie smiled at her. “Don’t worry Ana, we’re not flying out of the US, we’re actually driving up to Quebec City in Canada, and we’ll be flying to Whistler from there. I found out it’s actually quicker for us to drive into Canada, then fly from Augusta, where there would be an international waiting time at the airport and then a lay over in Toronto. By the time all that is done, we’d be halfway across Canada on the route I’ve chosen.”
Ana had nodded finally. “I don’t know why I still think like that. It will have been two and a half years by then.” She’d huffed and seemed annoyed with herself even for worrying about cameras catching her in a US airport. “You’d think I’d learn not to worry about looking over my shoulder.”
“A part of you will likely always worry Ana.” Maddie had stated simply as her eyes had moved to Ocean, “Because there is still a kin bond between him and Ocean. It can only be severed by one of them. I get that. Even smelling human won’t change the fact that he will recognise his own flesh and blood if he lays eyes on her. Instant connection.”
Ana sighed “I know, and her eyes are mine. Even if one of his unit saw her, I think they’d make the connection, do the math real quick with her hair being platinum blonde like his. His Gamma and Delta would. That Beta wouldn’t give a thought to it, even if he saw me with her, he would likely just turn and walk the other way. Pretend he never saw me. He got what he wanted, was happy about it.” she muttered.
Maddie had watched her pull herself together after that statement “Your life is very different, you’ve got a whole new family now, and we’ll look out for you, don’t you worry about that. If that Alpha walks in here with his Beta, I’ll spit in his coffee, and we’ll play hide and seek like I do with Austin,” she laughed, “He’ll not find you on my watch, even if you’re just a few kilometers away here at the house. He’s not going to smell wolfen on you now, is he?”
“No I guess not.” Ana nodded, and she’d gotten up and wondered off to check on Ocean. She was tempted to look that pack up, and see just what was going on there to alleviate Ana’s fears, but she wouldn’t. Ana had once told her not to bother, so she didn’t.
