Chapter Ten

Two Hours Later

New York City

Alpha Damon sighed deeply after reading the proposal on the table.

“Kings corporation and their fucking demands. There’s no way I’m signing this.” He said dropping the papers back onto the table. His hair was messy due to the number of times he had run his fingers through them. The first three buttons of his shirt was left undone and his eyes were swollen due to lack of sleep.

There were stacks of documents lying on the table, each a proposal from different companies that were eager to partner with him. But most of the companies were either those who were at the brink of going bankrupt or small upcoming companies looking for investors. Damon couldn’t see himself working with any of this companies.

Just then, he heard a knock on his door and Damon glanced at the screen on his tablet to find his secretary standing outside the door.

“Come in.” He called and a second later, Gabriel, his secretary, walked in.

“What’s it Gab? I told you I didn’t want to be disturbed today.”

“I apologize Sir, but I came to remind you of the meeting with MPK. It was scheduled at 3:15 p.m and we are already five minutes late.”

Damon checked his watch and saw that he was really late.

“Shit!” He mumbled, rising to his feet.

MPK was one of the top companies in the world currently. Not only did they specialize in tech, they also own dozens of luxurious hotels and high end restaurant across the world. For months Damon has been trying to secure a deal with them but to no avail.

And then just yesterday, he got an email stating MPK had agreed to sign a deal with them as they were expanding to New York city. Damon couldn’t believe he’d been so caught up with work that he’d lost track of time.

He sighed deeply, massaging his temples.

“We need to hurry now so we can meet up. I heard the CEO is coming to oversee things herself.” Gabriel voiced out just as Damon wore his suit. He turned sharply and his secretary’s gaze.

“You mean Mrs Blackwood is coming herself?”

Gabriel nodded. “Yes sir.”

“Fuck!” Damon cursed under his breath.

Mrs Amber Blackwood was the CEO of MPK. A global sensational who had risen to the top in just six years of starting MPK. She was brilliant, powerful and nearly impossible to reach. All of her deals were handled by intermediaries. She never appeared in public or on social media.

Many big companies who were there before her couldn’t compare to the might of her company now. And a thousand more wish to work with me.

When Damon submitted his partnership request, he never thought he was actually going to be selected as many others were also aiming for the same business deal. Imagine his surprise when he got that email yesterday. And to top it all, that same woman was going to handle things herself here in New York.

“Let’s go. I really hope we get there before her.” Damon mumbled and stormed towards the door.

Chapter Ten

The duo exited the company building and joined Damon’s driver who was waiting outside. Damon sat in the backseat while his secretary, Gabriel, occupied the front seat.

The drive was a long and very silent one, but after what felt like forever they finally arrived at their destination.

Deep down Damon prayed that the CEO didn’t arrive before him. For months his company had been stuck in limbo, neither going up or not falling down. This deal with MPK was the breakthrough he desperately needed. It was simply an opportunity he couldn’t afford to miss.

Wanting to get to the meeting as soon as possible, Damon didn’t wait for his driver to open the door for him. He helped himself to the door and got down immediately. And just when he was about to get to the entrance, his eyes met with the person who had given countless sleepless nights for the past six years.

Alpha Damon froze where he stood at his eyes met with the person. He didn’t know what stunned him the most. The person he was staring at or the expensive car she had gotten down from.

He took a single step forward, his heart beating painfully in his chest.

“Amber?” He called her name in disbelief and for the first time in a really long time, he felt tears well up in his

eyes.
