twined her fingers with Damon but Damon shrugged them off immediately. She tried to mask her hurt with a strain smile pretending that everything was okay.

“I’m most grateful to you all for making it here on such short notice. After careful consideration, MPK has finally decided to extend it’s contract to the two companies present, Wayne Group and Cross Enterprise.”

“Finally,” Bella scoffed, rolling her eyes. “What a bitchy company. Can’t believe they actually decided to grant us a contract.”

“Language Bel!” Damon snapped, his voice echoing across the room.

“Oh please babe, we literally sent thousand of letters to that wretched company and they didn’t even bother replying. And now after how many months they finally decided to grant us a response. What do you expect me to do? Bow down and thank them?”

“And what would have you done if you were the owner of MPK? Approve every random company that comes your way at the expense of your own success?” Marcus voice came through before he could even stop himself. His irritation was clear and he could no longer stand the way this vile woman spoke to Amber. The least he could do was protect her from such insults.

Amber sighed softly, placing a calming hand on Marcus’s arm.

“No babe. How dare she insult you like that? Does she even know who you are?”

“We are in an official meeting, refrain from such endearments please.” Damon voice out with a straight face. He was already so damn jealous already.

“And who the fuck do you think you are to talk to me in that manner?” Bella snapped at Marcus.

“Babe, are you sure you still want to work with this woman” Marcus murmured to Amber, who merely smile, unbothered by the whole drama that was unfolding before her. But it only seemed to infuriate Bella.

She turned to Enzo, her voice sharp as steel. “Why the hell did you even let that woman in here? You said only two companies were chosen, Wayne Group and Cross Enterprise. I can see Mr Nathan over there, so what the fuck is she doing here?”

“Language Mrs Cross. Mrs Amber has every right to be in this meeting.”

“Do you even know who that woman is. She’s a fucking murderer. She killed Richard Cross, Damon’s father and ran away!”

A heavy silence fell over the room. Every head turned toward Damon… then to Amber, who remained seated, calm and composed, as if Bella’s words were nothing but noise.

Enzo expression darkened. “You’d be wise to refrain from such accusations, Mrs. Cross. Mrs. Amber is far more than you realize. Do you have any idea what power she holds?”

Bella let out a mocking laugh. “Power? Don’t make me laugh. She’s nothing but a criminal. I’m sure Mrs. Blackwood will have her arrested the moment she arrives.”

That was the final straw. Enzo couldn’t control himself any longer.

“Suit yourself, Mrs. Cross, because the woman you’re insulting, Mrs. Amber, is none other than Mrs. Amber Blackwood, the owner of MPK herself. She’s the one granting you those contracts you’re so quick to mock.” 1
