Snapping out of his realization, Damon took two steps forward, his body boiling with barely restrained anger.” You dare lay your hands on me mutt?” He snarled.

Marcus let out a low growl, his aura flaring in response. “Do not touch my girlfriend.”

With that, the two alphas glared at one another, their aura clashing. A faint almost invincible aura rippled between them like a phantom storm.

By now, several onlookers had begun to gather, whispering among themselves as they stole curious glances. To them, it looked like an ordinary argument between two men. They couldn’t possibly understand that the beasts beneath their skins were seconds away from breaking free.

“Enough!” Amber snapped, stepping between them before the tension could explode.

Marcus immediately stepped back, taking a deep breath.

“I’m sorry babe. Let’s head inside.”

He placed a gentle hand on the small of her back and threw one last glare at Damon before leading her into the building.

The moment they disappeared through the glass door, Gabriel hurried towards Damon.

“Are you alright Sir?” He asked, concern written across his face.

To Gabriel, and every other human watching, it had just been a heated exchange. Nothing more.

“I’m fine!” Damon snapped, irritation bubbling beneath the surface..

He looked around and noticed the curious eyes on him.

His wolf had been so close to breaking free that he didn’t even care about the crowd.

Taking a deep breath, Damon forced himself to calm down before storming towards the building. Gabriel followed closely behind him.

As they walked, Damon couldn’t stop thinking about Amber The same woman who had haunted his dreams for six long years.

He had spend years searching for her, but every trail had gone cold.

The private investigators he’d hired all came back with the same story, that she was dead.

Damon remembered being filled with so much agony.

And now, after six years, he had finally found her again, in New York city.

She looked so different now.

He needed to focus on the board meeting. He was already late, and the last thing he needed was to get his contract terminated before even signing the deal. That would be too much of a blow to handle.

With a sigh, Damon pushed his thoughts aside and entered he boardroom.

But the moment he stepped in, Damon froze in his tracks when he saw Amber and the Marcus guy occupying seats. This time around, Marcus had one of his hands resting possessively around her laps as Amber laughed softly to a joke he had just told her.

Rage surged through Damon like wildfire. He couldn’t hold himself any longer.

“what the fuck is going on here!” He barked, glaring daggers at Marcus, the man who had introduced himself as her boyfriend.

All the board members turned to stare. There were six others in the room excluding Amber and her boyfriend.

“Please take a seat Mr Cross, the meeting is about to start. A man in a blue suit and tie said politely, gesturing towards an empty seat.

Seeing that the board members were giving him funny looks, Damon forced himself to calm down and took a seat opposite Amber and her boyfriend.

His secretary excused himself and quietly slipped out of the boardroom.

The man in the blue suit rose to his feet, ready to start the meeting but before he could speak, the door opened again.

A familiar voice filled the room.

“So sorry I’m late!”

All heads turned and Damon’s heart dropped when he saw who it was.

Bella Cross, his wife.

She walked into the room, her heels clicking sharply as she allowed her eyes to scanned the board room.

Her world crumbled instantly when they finally lasted on Amber, the one woman whom she hated more than anything else in the world.
