“Where the hell were you Bree? I searched the whole world for you. They told me you were dead. And who the fuck is that douche bag? Why’s he hovering around you like an errand boy. Did you tell him we’re married? That we have a kid?”

A sad chucked escaped Amber’s lips. “Married? Kids? You sent me out of your life and now you’ve the guts to ask me where I’ve been?”

“Look Bree, I can explain.”

“I don’t want your fucking explanation. I want nothing to do with you. You wanted a divorce and I gave it to you. I gave you everything and you never regarded me as a wife.”

“Or do I need to remind you how you cheated on me and threw me in a jail for a crime I never committed?”

Damon sighed, and for a moment, an expression of pain appeared on his face before he masked it again.

“I know everything Bree. I know you didn’t do it. I found out much later that someone else poisoned my father, I found a video of a maid poisoning his tea but before we could find out who ordered her, she was dead.”

“And why the hell are you telling me this now? It doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t change the months I spend rotting in that cell. It doesn’t heal the pain and the scars you gave me.”

“Then give me a chance to fix it, bree. I’m not the man I use was. What happened to you over those years? You weren’t always this cold and brutal You’re not the Amber 1 puce knew.”

“You mean I’m not the naive girl you once knew. The one who was happy she got mated to you and got burned!”

“No. That’s not what I meant. Why are you being so cold to me? Give me a chance to make things right. I mean, we are married for God’s sake.”

“Can you just stay still.” Damon pleaded, wondering what she must have gone through all those years to become this stubborn.

“Get off me!” Amber hissed.

“Look, I’m so sorry for what happened between us Bree. Heaven knows words can’t describe how sorry I am. When I found out you escaped, I searched everywhere for you. The guards swore you were dead but I refused to believe it. I didn’t want our daughter to grow up without a mother because I know what that feels like. I’m sorry about everything I put you through.”

“I’m ashamed of myself for not listening to you back then. I was so blind and stupid to not see that you were frame. I found out later that Bella poisoned you in that cell. You must have gone through so much pain. I’m sorry about everything. You have no idea how happy I was to see you. Not a day went by that I didn’t think about you. You can’t imagine how angry I was when I saw that douche bag holding you.” 3

“Look at you Bree, you have changed so much. I only realized now how foolish I was to not listen to my father when he told me to treat you well. It is true what they say that you don’t know what you have until you lose it.”

“I’m so proud of you Bree. You built an empire for yourself and you carry yourself with so much grace. I couldn’t stop looking at you inside there.”

“And your body… I’ve miss it so much.” Damon said and rested his head on her head.

Just then the restroom door burst open and Bella stormed in. “What the hell is going on here!” She barked.

Amber tried to break free but Damon wasn’t letting her.

“What the fuck is going on here Damon? Why are you with her?” Bella glared at Amber.

“Get out!” Damon snapped.

“Why are you saying that to me Damon? I’m your wife!”

She turned to Amber. “I should have known you were up to no good. You’re nothing but a gold digging slut!”

Amber had no idea where she got her strength from. She managed to push Damon off her body and approached Bella, her hand landing across her cheeks.

Shocked, Bella raised her hand to her cheek.

“Don’t you ever mess with me.”

Without waiting for a response, she picked her bag and stormed out of the restroom.

Marcus was waiting outside when he saw Amber approaching him with a frown on her face.

“Did something happen Bree?”

“I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s just go!” She said walking towards the exit.

“What about Mr Henry? I thought you had something to say to him?” Marcus said trying to catch up with her.
