“Oh my God, babe. You mean Enzo did all that? That’s hilarious!”
“Shhhhhh. You are going to wake Jason!” Amber cautioned Jess, playfully glaring at her as she tucked the boy to bed. They both exited the boy’s room, with Amber closing the door behind her.
“I’m sorry, babes,” Jess whispered between laughs. “It’s just so funny! I can’t believe the cool–headed Mr Enzo actually lost his temper and exposed you as the owner of MPK. That’s priceless.”
Amber rolled her eyes, but a small smile tugged at her lips.
“Oh, poor Bella,” Jess continued, laughing harder now. “That must’ve been so embarrassing for her. I wish I was there to see her face!” Tears began to gather in her eyes from laughing so hard.
Amber folded her arms and took a deep breath. “I can’t say blame him. Bella was just being the bitch she always is. It was only right he put her in her place.”
They rounded a corner and kept walking down the hallway.
“What about Damon?” Jess asked. “What was his reaction?
Amber hesitated for a moment before answering. “I guess he was just as shocked as everyone else. He didn’t say much.”
Following her response, Jess stopped in her tracks causing Amber to stop as well. She looked at her friend for a second before asking, “Do you want something to drink?”
“Yes.” Amber sighed. “I’m so exhausted after everything that happened today.”
The two friends made their way to the bar in the living room. They both took their seats after which Jess poured them each a glass and handed one to Amber.
Amber took a sip, then another until the glass was almost empty.
Jess watched her take gulps of the alcohol as if it was the sweetest thing in the world before asking.
“So what really happened between you and Damon?”
“What? Nothing happened.”
“Just spill babe. You know I’m not going to judge you.”
Amber took a deep breath. “Well, I may or may not have hit him in the face. And Bella too.”
Jess chuckled. “That’s my girl. But I think you may want to go deeper into details.”
Amber took another deep breath. “Damon cornered me in the bathroom. To sum it up, he confessed his love to me and apologized for everything he did. He also said he wants me back.”
“What an asshole! I can’t believe he said that after everything he did.”
“He’s a bigger asshole than that. If it weren’t for the fact that I want my daughter back I wouldn’t have bother partnering with him.” Amber said staring at her now almost empty cup.
“I understand you babe and I promise you, we are going to get her back.” Jess said reassuring her.
The duo were silent for a while before Jessie spoke again.
“And how did you feel when you saw him again?”

“You mean that bastard? I feel nothing for him.”
“I want you to be sincere with me babe. Do you still love him?”

“How can you even ask me that Jess? After everything he did to me. No I do not feel anything for him.”
Jess sighed. “I get it, Bree. But you know how mate bonds work. Even when they’re broken, sometimes there’s still something left. I just wanted to be sure.”
Amber thought about it for a while. After a few seconds passed, she brought her gaze up and spoke again.
“The only thing I feel for him is hate. And honestly I don’t think I can ever feel anything else for him. I’m just sad my daughter had to grow up with someone like him as a father.”
“Have you seen her yet?” Jessie asked gently.
Amber shook her head. “Not yet I haven’t. I don’t even know what my baby girl looks like. That bastard took that away from me.” Her voiced cracked, tears filling her eyes.
Jessie placed a reassuring palm on her hand. “Everything will be okay, babe. You will see your daughter again, I promise.”
“How about you go to bed now. Today must have been a rollercoaster of emotions for you. It must have been tough seeing that witch and Damon again after everything they put you through. I won’t even ask what that bitch did to warrant getting slapped by you. I know she deserves it cause you’re the purest soul I’ve ever seen. Even when people go out of their way to cross you, you still find a way to forgive them.”
Amber smiled faintly. “You know me too well, Jess. And honestly, I’m glad I slapped her. She had it coming. Besides, her perfect little marriage doesn’t look so perfect anymore.”
Jess frowned. “What do you mean?”
Amber leaned back, arms crossed. “Things aren’t good between her and Damon. He yelled at her more times today than I can count. Not that I care or anything but it was satisfying to see she’s not living the fairytale she pretends
to.”
“I still can’t believe how cruel she was. She had everything when she married Damon, and still found time to visit your cell just to torment you. Poisoning you, trying to get rid of your babies…”
“I still can’t believe how cruel she was. She had everything when she married Damon, and she still found time to visit me in jail just to rub it on me. Even going as far as to poison me so she could get rid of my babies.”
“I’m so sorry to hear that babe. I can’t even imagine what you went through in that cell. I tear up every time I hear this story. I’m glad she’s finally reaping the results of her wickedness.” Jessie said smiling.
“I’m just happy things worked out for me in the end. When started MPK I didn’t know it was going to become this big. I just wanted power so I could get my daughter back and give my children the future they deserve. I didn’t know I was going to get to where I am today.”
“I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I’m proud of you babe. All this is a result of your hard work and dedication. The moon goddess must be making up for bonding you to that jerk.” Jessie said and Amber laughed.
“Enough with the moon goddess, Jess. I don’t want to hear anything about her or any werewolf related talks.”
Jess grinned. “Fine, no more goddess talk. Now go to bed. You’ve got a long day tomorrow.”
“Yes, mama,” Amber teased, and both of them burst out laughing as they headed toward Amber’s room.
