Amber sat in front of her dresser, letting out a quiet sigh as she applied the final touch of makeup.
She wore a red velvet gown that hugged her slender figure perfectly, accentuating her curves in all the right places. A slit ran up one side, revealing her long legs, while the plunging neckline offered a bit of cleavage, making her looked like she had just stepped out of a magazine cover.
“Are you sure this is the right dress for the event, Jess?” Amber asked Jessie over facepalm. Her iPhone was seated comfortably on the mirror while she adjusted her earrings.
“Trust me babes, it’s perfect. You need to show those bitches who the real CEO is.” Jessie’s voice came through.
“I don’t know Jess, I feel like it’s too much. Maybe I should go with the black one instead.”
“No babes. The red is perfect.”
Amber sighed. “Fine. The red it is.”
“Is Marcus going with you? I know it’s your event, but I don’t want you alone with those people,” Jessie said with worry in her tone.
“Relax, Jess. Marc’s coming. He’ll be a little late, but he’ll be there. There’s nothing to worry about.”
“Fine, but are you sure you will be okay?”
Amber paused, her brow furrowing. “What do you mean?”
“You know what I’m talking about, Bree. This party’s to celebrate the new partnership deal with both Wayne Group and Cross Enterprise and last I checked, Damon’s company is crawling with werewolves from his pack. Are you sure you’re ready to face them again?” Jessie couldn’t help but ask.
Amber gave a short chuckle. “You worry too much Jess. You’re forgetting I’m not the girl I used to be. And besides it’s my company we’re talking about here. I think I can handle a few werewolves.”
“I know that Bree. I’m just worried about you. You know you don’t have to be there right? You could just call Mr Henry and have him handle the event in your place.”
“I’ve thought of that, but not tonight. This is the first event to seal our partnership deal. I need to be there myself.”
“But-”
“It’s going to be fine babes. You worry too much. Just take care of Jason till I’m back. I promise I won’t stay long.”
Jess sighed. “Fine. Just promise you’ll be careful. And don’t worry about my godson. Jason’s in good hands.”
“Thanks babes. I need to go now before I’m late. Talk to you later,”
Amber said and ended the call. She picked her purse and strode out of the house, joining her driver who was already waiting outside.
“Let’s go.” The driver nodded and started the car, driving towards MPK.
Amber took a deep breath when the driver finally pulled up n front of MPK.
Through the tinted window, she could see cameras flashing in the air and reporters shouting as people in gorgeous attires arrived in their expensive cars.
