Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 135

135.Chapter 135

It looked like Chloe had snapped some secret photos of Alaric and Zoe, then tipped off the media.

“Chloe?” Alaric looked puzzled for a moment. ‘Who is that?’ he wondered.

“She’s Mrs. Rowle’s old maid, and Zoe’s nanny,” Ryan said quietly, glancing at Alaric with a hint of caution.

Alaric’s eyes narrowed. ‘So she’s one of Zoe’s people…’ he thought.

‘So that’s why she grabbed me yesterday…’ he realized.

A cold glint flashed in Alaric’s eyes as he spoke with icy authority, “Make sure this is cleaned up. I don’t want to see a trace of this in the news again.”

“Yes, sir,” Ryan replied respectfully, then quickly left the office.

Getting hit with such a wild rumor first thing in the morning, Ryan was so shocked he nearly fried his own circuits.

‘Mr. Caldwell would never pull something like this. He was obviously set up. Chloe’s got guts, but she’s just a maid, someone must’ve put her up to it. Guess I’ll have to look into this some more…’ Ryan thought.

Now that the bloggers had already wiped their posts, all that was left was for the legal and IT teams to take over. Easy fix.

Alaric barely batted an eye at the whole mess. He just went right back to reviewing his paperwork, as if nothing had happened.

By the afternoon, the news about Alaric had, come and gone like a flash in the pan, vanishing from the internet without a

trace.

But the internet wasn’t about to go quiet. Instead, a new bombshell dropped, and the whole place blew up all over again.

The Caldwell Group’s official social media account posted a message that was short and sweet: [Mr. Caldwell is currently single.]

That one post sent shockwaves through the internet, and the whole place went wild.

This is Caldwell Group’s official account, what are they trying to say with a post like that?

[Maybe the rumors this morning weren’t just made up after all?]

[Clearly, the real deal isn’t the woman in those pics.]

[Exactly! I’m dying to see what Mr. Caldwell’s real fiancée looks like.]

Zoe felt like she’d just been slapped across the face in front of everyone. She was completely humiliated.

She’d thought that even if Alaric found out about the whole thing, he’d just have the posts taken down and the rumors squashed. She figured she’d still be able to control the narrative online.

But she never saw it coming, Alaric had pulled the rug out from under her, turning her into a total joke for the whole internet to laugh at.

Zoe’s face twisted with rage as she clenched her fists, furious and bitter, refusing to back down.

‘I can’t accept this. Why did it have to turn out like this?’ she thought, her mind spinning with frustration.

‘Is Alaric really not going to spare me even a shred of dignity, all because of Ophelia?’ Zoe fumed.

The thought flashed through her mind, and Zoe was so pissed she almost slammed her phone down in frustration.

Just then, Jaxon’s voice echoed down the hallway. “Time for class. Is everyone here?”

“Zoe’s not here,” someone replied.

“Where’d she go?” Jaxon frowned, sounding a bit annoyed.

Hearing her name, Zoe quickly pulled herself together and came out from the stairwell. “I’m here,” she said.

“You don’t look so well. Are you feeling sick?” one of her classmates asked, concern in their voice.

Zoe shook her head, forcing herself to stay calm. “No, I’m fine. I’was just stuck on a question, and I guess I got a little dizzy from crouching too long and standing up too fast.”

Then she said softly, “Let’s head to class. We shouldn’t keep Mr. Wells waiting.”

The group made their way toward the Multi-purpose Room.

At the back of the group, Ophelia gave Zoe a o Successfully unlocked been totally crushed, her steps heavy and defeated. Ophelia’s eyes flashed with pure con
