Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 152

152.Chapter 152

“See? That brat was just playing the fool in the Vossen family all this time! She’s way more dangerous than she let on!” Abigail was losing it, furious that all four men still couldn’t pin Ophelia down.

“I paid top dollar for you! If you can’t even handle a girl, forget about your payment!” she snapped.

Her shout jolted the two guys who’d been dazed by the powder. Shaking off their dizziness, they staggered forward, determined to take Ophelia down.

Ophelia had already forced two of them back and was about to dash for the door, but the two who should’ve been knocked out by the powder suddenly blocked her escape.

Her eyes dimmed with resolve, Ophelia was ready to go all out.

But the guys behind her caught up, and out of nowhere, one of them pulled out a metal baton.

“You little brat! Let’s see where you run now!” the man roared, bringing the baton down toward Ophelia’s head.

With people closing in behind her and nowhere left to run, Ophelia could only grit her teeth and raise her arm, ready to take the hit head-on.

Just when she thought the blow was coming, a man’s agonized scream rang out.

“Ah! Let me go!” the thug shouted.

Instead of pain, all she felt was safety, the next thing she knew, a strong arm yanked her into a solid, protective embrace. Right then, a furious voice thundered in her ear. “Touch her again and you’re done for!”

Hearing that familiar voice, Ophelia jerked her head up and locked eyes with Alaric, his gaze as deep and unreadable as ever. Ophelia blinked in shock. “Why are you here?”

‘What is he doing at the Vossen residence?’ she thought, totally thrown off.

“Are you alright?” Alaric looked down at Ophelia, his eyes dark with anger he was barely holding back.

Ophelia looked over her shoulder and saw the two men lying on the floor after Alaric’s kick. She shook her head. “I’m fine.”

‘He ended up saving me again,’ Ophelia thought. ‘If he hadn’t shown up when he did, there’s no way I would’ve gotten out of that unscathed.’

She really didn’t want to owe him anything, but now she was in his debt again. ‘Just my luck,’ she thought with a sigh.

Seeing she really wasn’t hurt, Alaric’s expression finally softened a bit.

Back at the club entrance, when he saw her getting dragged away, his heart was pounding like crazy. He was scared out of his mind that something would happen to her, he’d never been this freaked out in his life.

Now that she was safe in his arms, he finally felt like he could breathe again.

“Ophelia, uh, who is this…?” Cameron stammered, his face ashen and still rattled from what just happened.

That was seriously close, this guy wasn’t just tough, he looked downright dangerous.

Ophelia looked up at Alaric, just now realizing how close they were standing together.

A hint of awkwardness flashed across her face as she pulled away from his embrace, feeling a bit self-conscious.

She ignored Cameron’s question completely, turning instead to give Abigail a cold, hard stare.

She honestly hadn’t expected Abigail to actually go through with it. ‘Is she really that crazy?’ Ophelia thought.

“Ophelia, you really outdid yourself this time, bringing your pretty boy along. You think he can save you?” Abigail snapped, her eyes blazing with hatred as she glared at Alaric.

If it hadn’t been for him bailing Ophelia out, her eldest son would never have gotten arrested. Seeing him here in person just made her blood boil.

Gritting her teeth, Abigail jabbed a finger at the two of them, her voice dripping with malice. “Grab both of them! Today’s the day I settle the score with both of you!”
