Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 153

153.Chapter 153

“You hit me again?” Abigail clutched her burning cheek and shrieked, “Cameron, are you really doing this for that… that Rowan?”

“Wait… Rowan who?” Abigail froze mid-sentence, suddenly realizing what Cameron had just said.

She didn’t know all the ins and outs of the company, but Cameron and Carter had mentioned Rowan’s name so many times. ‘No way… Is Rowan actually Ophelia?’ Abigail’s thoughts raced, her mind in chaos.

“No, that’s impossible,” Abigail shook her head in disbelief. “How could she possibly be Rowan?”

All these years, the Vossen Group had thrived thanks to Ophelia. ‘How am I supposed to believe that?’ Abigail thought, completely stunned.

Turns out the whole Vossen family had been leaning on Ophelia this entire time. Abigail just couldn’t wrap her head around

“It’s true. Layla saw it too,” Cameron said with a defeated look, pointing at Layla.

‘Abigail had totally crossed Ophelia now. How the hell am I supposed to get her to forgive us?’ Cameron thought, feeling completely lost.

Abigail turned to Layla, almost on autopilot. Layla’s face said it all. She mumbled under her breath, “Why didn’t any of you tell me?”

“Mom, we’ve all been busy trying to save the company lately. None of us thought you’d actually do something like this,” Layla said. ‘Honestly, I kinda wanted to see Ophelia mess up, but now, I just gotta tell the truth,’ she thought to herself.

Abigail staggered, feeling like all the strength had been sucked out of her.

‘So what stupid thing did I do today? Is the Vossen Group really finished?’ Abigail thought, panic clawing at her chest.

But she just couldn’t accept it. Her eldest son was still locked up in prison. ‘How could I just stand by and let Ophelia leave?’ she thought, her heart twisting with frustration.

But before she could even figure out what to do, the cops were already at the door.

“We’ve received a report of kidnapping and unlawful detention. Please come with us to the station for questioning,” one of the officers said, his voice firm and unyielding.

Abigail flinched, her face going ghostly pale. “Is it really that serious?”

“No, no, you’ve got it wrong! We’re her adoptive parents. We just asked her to come back and help us out,” Abigail stammered, desperate to wriggle out of trouble. The thought of getting arrested scared her out of her wits.

“We’ll sort it all out once we’ve investigated,” the officer replied, totally unfazed. He was just following procedure, no exceptions.

Panic took over Abigail, and she grabbed Ophelia, breaking down in tears. “Ophelia, it’s all my fault. Please, help me explain things to them. We can talk about everything else, I promise!”

‘If Ophelia really is Rowan, will I ever get out if I go in this time?’ Abigail thought, her heart pounding with dread.

Ophelia lowered her gaze, her eyes cold and mocking. “Funny, that’s not what you said before. Right before the cops walked in, you were literally telling them to beat me to death.”

“I…” Abigail was so stunned and terrified she let out a nervous hiccup.

Suddenly, she remembered what Ophelia had said earlier, asking if she was going to go join Aaron in jail.

‘Ophelia is Rowan? So I’m totally done for now? Am I really about to get thrown in jail just like Aaron?’ Abigail thought, panic clawing at her.

“Ophelia, maybe we could…” Cameron started, but when he met Ophelia’s icy gaze, he swallowed hard, the words dying in his throat.

In the end, he just let his hand drop, defeated, and turned his head away.

That was basically Cameron writing Abigail off.

Right now, Cameron was out of moves. When it came to the Vossen Group and the family, Abigail just didn’t matter that much anymore.

“Dad!” Layla’s eyes were red and anxious, her voice trembling g with worry and indecision.
