Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 177

177 Chapter 177

177.Chapter 177

Watching her practically run back to her room, Alaric just shook his head with a faint smile.

‘Still running from me, huh?’ Alaric mused to himself, a hint of amusement in his thoughts.

Let her run. He wasn’t in a hurry. Patience was his specialty.

Ophelia finally felt her nerves settle once she was back in her room.

There was something off about Alaric today, but she couldn’t quite say what it was.

He was still that sweet-on-the-outside, scheming-on-the-inside type, but for some reason, she didn’t feel the need to keep her guard up as much around him anymore.

Over the next few days, Alaric started showing up at the villa entrance right on time.

Every day, he was there, waiting at the door like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Whenever Ophelia finished her treatment and stepped outside, she’d spot him instantly. After a while, she wasn’t even surprised or bothered anymore-it just became part of her daily routine.

“Treatment’s done for today. Are you heading straight back to Dunhollow, or are you going back tomorrow?” Alaric asked softly, his eyes gentle.

“I’ll head back tonight,” Ophelia said, rubbing her temples. ‘Thank god, it’s finally over, she thought.

Honestly, Ophelia couldn’t help but suspect Alaric was hanging around the city for a reason, but she had zero proof. She couldn’t figure it out. He’s got such a huge company to run, and yet he’s totally chill about leaving the Caldwell Group on its own for a whole week?

Seeing her pale face, Alaric’s gaze was full of concern. “Let’s go back to the hotel first. Take a little break and get something to eat before we head out.”

Even though she wasn’t having issues with low blood sugar after her treatments these days, it was clear the whole process still left her drained.

“Forget about resting. I’ll just grab my luggage and we can head out,” Ophelia shrugged it off. ‘The earlier I leave, the sooner I’ll be home, she thought.

Alaric tilted his head, shooting her a playful look. “Why do I get the feeling you’re dying.to ditch me?”

‘She really does seem in a rush to get away from me,’ Alaric thought, half amused.

These past few days, she’d gone along with his arrangements, accepted his rides and company, but Alaric knew perfectly well that it hadn’t brought them any closer. At most, she’d just stopped trying to push him away.

Ophelia shot Alaric a sidelong glance and smiled, brushing off his words. “I just want to get home as soon as possible.” But that smile just confirmed to Alaric that he’d hit the nail on the head.

“You really have no heart, do you?” Alaric chuckled, his tone indulgent and helpless.

Ophelia arched an eyebrow, her tone teasing. “Alaric, why don’t you tell me-how exactly am I heartless?”

Alaric’s brow lifted. ‘This girl’s testing me again, he thought, amused.

He knew she was clever. By now, she’d probably figured out that the real reason he was hanging around the city was her. So whenever she got the chance, she’d poke at him, and honestly, he couldn’t help but feel a little helpless.

“Let’s go, back to the hotel,” Alaric said, letting her question slide without a second thought.

Ophelia just shrugged, didn’t look the least bit bothered. Not like she’d expected anything different anyway.

Once they were in the car, Ophelia leaned back against the seat and let out a quiet sigh..

Alaric glanced over at her. “Feeling tired?”

“I’m fine,” Ophelia replied, her gaze drifting out the window, her eyes unreadable.

She hadn’t thought much of it at first, but when she realized Alaric was never busy, always dropping her off and waiting for her right on schedule. That’s when she started to wonder.

But he really was busy with a company takeover and shaking things up at work, so it’s not like he was making any of it up. Ophelia’s mind was a tangled mess, her brows Successfully unlocked!th her own mixed feelings. ‘Why am I even bothered by this?’ she wondered, her expression comes by the second.

She was so spaced out, lost in her own head, that she didn’t even realize the car had already stopped at the hotel.
