Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 21

**Paths Lead To Purpose — Kevin Masters**

**Chapter 21**

As Zoe turned to face Dylan, her face erupted into a dazzling smile that seemed to light up the room. The warmth in her eyes was almost overwhelming, like sunlight pouring through a window on a crisp morning. Yet, this exuberance made Dylan shift uncomfortably in his seat.

Dylan had always been the quiet type, the kind of person who preferred the shadows to the spotlight. Sudden bursts of friendliness, especially from someone as effusive as Zoe, sent a wave of tension through him.

“The organizers always send someone to pick me up,” he replied, his voice steady but polite, as he settled down next to Adrian. “Really, there’s no need to trouble yourself with that.”

Victoria, ever the diplomat in their little circle, sensed the tension and quickly intervened. “Oh, come now! Let’s focus on breakfast first. We can sort out the rest of the details later.”

Dylan nodded, grateful for the change of subject. “Alright then. After we finish eating, I’ll ask Ryan to get in touch with Caterina. They might still be able to assist with the gown.”

Ophelia offered a faint smile, her thoughts swirling.

*If Dylan wants to help, I will let him,* she mused to herself, feeling a flicker of hope.

But Zoe was not finished stirring the pot. “That’s fantastic! Now that Dylan is back, Ophelia can finally wear a haute couture piece. Caterina is all the rage this year—every socialite is obsessed with their designs.”

“Even the limited editions sell out in the blink of an eye,” Zoe continued, pausing dramatically, her voice laced with feigned concern. “But with so many guests expected at Grandpa’s birthday bash, what if Ophelia ends up wearing the same gown as someone else?”

Her eyes sparkled with mischief. This was precisely what she had in mind. If Ophelia chose any gown from Caterina’s current collection, all Zoe had to do was inform one of her friends to show up in the same design. The thought of Ophelia’s embarrassment was delicious to her.

Dylan frowned, deep in thought. “That’s a valid point. Caterina has become too mainstream lately. At the events I’ve attended this year, even top celebrities have shown up wearing identical dresses.”

And this event was no ordinary gathering; it was the Rowle patriarch’s 70th birthday celebration. The guest list would read like a who’s who of Dunhollow high society, with most attendees draped in either custom-made or exclusive couture pieces.

Ophelia noticed the slight crease forming between Dylan’s brows and couldn’t suppress a chuckle. “If that’s the case, why don’t I just design one myself?”
