224 Chapter 224
224.Chapter 224
Watching Ophelia leave, looking like she had everything under control, Chloe felt as if her legs were made of lead.
“Don’t try anything funny. You can’t get anything past me,” Ophelia’s cold voice floated back.
Chloe watched Ophelia walk away without even looking back, then quietly slipped her phone back into her pocket.
Now really wasn’t the time to try anything. If she did, she’d basically be outing herself, and Zoe would get dragged into this
mess too.
Downstairs, Ophelia told Samuel to wake the guy up with a splash of cold water and have him tied up tight.
When Zoe stepped into the living room, she found herself staring at a scene that was tense and unexpected.
Adrian and Victoria were sitting side by side on the couch, their faces so serious it felt like the air was being squeezed out of the room.
Ophelia was lounging on the side sofa, looking completely at ease, like she didn’t have a care in the world.
Chloe stood in the middle, with a man tied up and sitting on the floor beside her.
Zoe paused mid-step, her heart thumping nervously. ‘Wait, did the plan fall through?’
She snapped back into character, putting on her best confused face as she walked over. “Mom, Dad, what happened?”
Adrian looked at Zoe, hesitating, as if he wanted to say something but held back.
Victoria’s face was a mix of emotions. In the end, she just glanced at Ophelia and said, “Ophelia, you take care of it.”
She’d already agreed, so of course everything was left to Ophelia now.
Victoria wasn’t just furious. She was honestly taken aback. Ophelia had only asked her at lunch if she could handle things if something happened, and now, boom, all this drama exploded just hours later.
At that, Zoe glanced at Ophelia, feigning confusion. “Ophelia, um… what’s all this about?”
“You seriously don’t know?” Ophelia shot Zoe a mocking smirk, her eyes full of sarcasm.
Ophelia was certain Zoe was in on everything, but wow, Zoe could really play innocent when she wanted to.
Zoe blinked, putting on her most innocent act. “Ophelia, what are you talking about? I just walked in. How would I know anything?”
“Really? You mean you weren’t the one pulling the strings?” Ophelia shot Zoe a frosty glare, exposing her without mercy.
‘If Chloe did anything to me, it had to be because Zoe told her to. No way Chloe would go that far on her own. She’s not that bold, or that spiteful, Ophelia thought.
“I really don’t know! What’s going on?” Zoe’s eyes were rimmed red, her face twisted in worry and looking all kinds of upset, like she was playing the victim.
She looked so clueless and pitiful, like she was about to burst into tears just from being accused.
“Alright then, Chloe, let’s hear it from you. I want the real story,” Ophelia scoffed, her voice cold. ‘Let’s see how long you can. keep up this fake innocent act, you bitch,’ she thought.
