Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 226

226 Chapter 226

226.Chapter 226

She’d been stonewalling the whole time, just sulking in silence even when I showed her the evidence. But the second Zoe’s name came up, she folded instantly and confessed at lightning speed.

Ophelia turned her gaze on Zoe, and Zoe felt a chill run down her spine, her face drained of color.

“Ch-Chloe, how could you do something like this?” Zoe bit out, forcing herself to draw a clear line and make sure everyone knew she was washing her hands of Chloe.

“I just wasn’t thinking straight, but what’s done is done. No use talking about it now,” Chloe explained, her voice firm as she looked at the police. “Go ahead, take me away.”

“Chloe, how could you betray Ophelia like this?” Adrian’s eyes were cold as ice, his voice sharp and full of authority.

He never thought there’d be someone with such wolfish ambition lurking in their own home all this time.

“Ever since Ophelia came back, she stole all the affection that used to belong to Zoe. Poor Zoe was so miserable, she cried her eyes out night after night. No matter how much she tried to put up with Ophelia, it was never enough.

“Ophelia just kept bullying her, and now she even wants to steal Zoe’s fiancé! I really couldn’t stand seeing Zoe suffer like that, so I decided to teach Ophelia a lesson,” Chloe said angrily, clearly taking Zoe’s side.

“All that love and attention?” Ophelia scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I’m the Rowle family’s real daughter, and this was always mine. Even after I came back, nothing in her life changed. So tell me, what did I ever steal from her?”

“Oh, her fiancé, huh?” Ophelia shot Zoe a mocking glance. “Alaric’s right over there. If you want him so bad, go chase after him yourself. Just because he doesn’t want you, that’s supposed to be my fault?”

“That’s not what I meant, Ophelia. You’re misunderstanding me,” Zoe mumbled, shrinking back like she was genuinely scared Ophelia might lash out at her, playing the victim to perfection.

“It’s all your fault! Mr. Caldwell ignores Zoe now because of you,” Chloe grumbled bitterly.

Ophelia scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain. “Quit twisting things. Alaric never cared about her, not even once. Like he’d suddenly pay attention to her if I vanished or something.”

“That’s not it…” Chloe started to protest.

Adrian snapped, his voice icy. “Enough! You’re just a servant. Who gave you the right to meddle in the family’s business?”

When it came to their relationship, even the patriarch had spoken: it was up to them, and if the feelings weren’t mutual, it wasn’t happening.

Chloe’s face turned ghostly pale, and she choked back any retort, left completely at a loss for words.

“Chloe, I can’t believe you’d do this… I’m honestly heartbroken and disappointed,” Victoria said, her face pale with a mix of anger and regret.

She never thought Chloe would actually target Ophelia over something as ridiculous as jealousy and a fiancé.

If Victoria hadn’t misjudged Chloe all these years, Ophelia never would’ve gotten caught up in this mess.

Thank goodness Ophelia was quick on her feet. Otherwise, the consequences could’ve been unimaginable.

“Ma’am, please look after yourself from now on,” Chloe said, taking a deep breath. With that, she stood up, ready to go with the police.

There was nothing left to say. She’d screwed up big time, and now she had to take responsibility for it.

The only thing left for her was to make absolutely sure Zoe stayed completely out of this, no matter what.

But from now on, Zoe would have to deal with Ophelia all on her own, and Chloe knew Zoe was bound to get the short end of the stick.

Chloe’s heart went out to Zoe, but she didn’t dare look at her again, worried she’d only end up causing Zoe more trouble. “Chloe…” Zoe called out, her voice trembling. Chloe stopped in her tracks, but she never looked back.

Zoe sighed, sounding resigned. “I get that you weren’t thinking straight, but wrong is wrong. You have to own up to what you did.”
