Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 227

227.Chapter 227

227.Chapter 227

Once the cops figured out what happened, they took the tied-up guy and Chloe and left the Rowle family’s house.

The air in the living room was heavy and suffocating.

“Zoe, you were absolutely right just now. People have to take responsibility for their mistakes. I hope you really get that,” Adrian said, his gaze serious as he looked at Zoe.

Zoe was stunned. ‘Wait, what does Dad mean by that? Did he actually buy what Ophelia said and think I’m involved?’ she thought.

‘But Chloe already took all the blame. Does Dad still think I did something wrong?’ Zoe wondered.

‘Are they really always taking Ophelia’s side?’ Zoe thought bitterly.

“Dad, are you saying you think I had something to do with this?” Zoe’s eyes instantly turned red, her voice thick with sadness. “But Chloe just said she did it all herself. I had no idea about any of this. Why do you still doubt me? Is it just because she’s your real daughter and I’m not?”

Zoe’s voice grew hoarse, and tears streamed down her face. She looked so miserable, it would break anyone’s heart.

Adrian frowned, looking at Zoe. He wanted to say something, but the words just wouldn’t come.

“Zoe, what your dad means is, since you’re close with Chloe, don’t let her way of thinking influence you. Ophelia is our daughter, and so are you. We’ll treat you both the same,” Victoria said gently, though the warmth she usually had was missing from her voice.

The sudden turn of events left her struggling to process everything that had just happened.

But for some reason, she found herself more inclined to believe Ophelia. Yet as she looked at Zoe, she suddenly wondered. Could Zoe really have done something like this, or was it truly just Chloe acting on her own?

“Really?” Zoe’s eyes sparkled with hope. “Mom, dad, do you still trust me? Do you still want me as your daughter?”

“Don’t say that, Zoe! Of course you’re our daughter,” Victoria blurted out, her heart melting as she rushed to comfort Zoe.

Ophelia arched an eyebrow, a cold, almost mocking smirk playing at her lips.

‘Wow, Zoe’s green tea skills are top-notch. No wonder Chloe fell for her and did everything she wanted,’ Ophelia thought.

“Alright, quit the waterworks. I’m the one who almost got hurt, and I’m not even crying. So what are you bawling about?” Ophelia shot Zoe a confused look.

“Hic…” Zoe was sobbing when Ophelia’s words hit her so hard she actually hiccupped.

Zoe looked up at Ophelia, tears still clinging to her cheeks. She looked just like a helpless little bunny that had just been bullied, so innocent, and so lost.

But Ophelia knew the truth. This wasn’t some harmless bunny. It was a full-on bitch.

Zoe bit her lip, her voice shaky and timid. “Ophelia, I swear it wasn’t me. Please don’t be mad at me, okay?”

“Whatever, if you say you didn’t do it, then fine,” Ophelia said, turning away. She didn’t want to look at that two-faced act for another second.
