Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 229

Chapter 229

Chapter 229

‘Seriously? That fast?’ Ophelia thought, a little taken aback.

‘Oliver only got back from abroad last night, and he already knows what happened to me?’ she mused.

Oliver gave Ophelia a cold glance, with a hint of disdain.

Ophelia caught on instantly and gave a nervous, fawning smile. “Yeah, I can do that.”

The car was pretty messed up, but she rushed it to the shop yesterday, so it could be good to go today.

Oliver just gave her a long, meaningful look and didn’t say anything else.

Ophelia quietly breathed a sigh of relief. ‘Thank goodness he’s keeping quiet. I really don’t want the family to know and get all worried,’ she thought.

After breakfast, Ophelia was the first to leave the Rowle residence.

“Oliver, what were you and Ophelia just talking about?” Victoria asked, sounding a little suspicious. She couldn’t shake the feeling they were hiding something from her.

“Nothing,” Oliver replied as he stood up. “I’m heading out too.”

He got it, Ophelia just didn’t want the family to worry.

Since it was all taken care of and she clearly didn’t want to talk about it, he figured he’d just drop it.

At New City Tower, Ophelia had just walked into her office when Ella followed right behind her.

“Boss, everything’s set up just like you asked. We should have results soon,” Ella reported, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

She couldn’t wait to watch the Vossen family go down.

“Mm,” Ophelia replied, sounding totally uninterested.

Noticing Ophelia’s lack of enthusiasm, Ella looked concerned. “Boss, is something up?”

After telling Ella what went down yesterday, Ophelia added, “Have someone keep tabs on Chloe and wait for the cops to wrap things up.”

“Got it,” Ella said, gritting her teeth. “Are you really just going to let Zoe off the hook?”

“I bet Chloe will take the blame for her this time, just like always. Let’s see who’ll step up for her next time,” Ophelia replied, her gaze icy. ‘Zoe’s tricks won’t last forever, sooner or later, her true colors will show, she thought.

“But what if she gets so freaked out she actually starts behaving?” Ella muttered, clearly frustrated. ‘Wouldn’t that be letting that two-faced girl off way too easy?’ she thought.

“If she really does settle down, then I guess she’s lucky,” Ophelia said with a mocking smile. “But honestly, Zoe doesn’t seem like someone who can just keep her head down.”

Of course, if Zoe really did change for good, Ophelia might just let the past go, if only for Victoria’s sake.

“Alright then,” Ella said, making a face. “Honestly, she really doesn’t seem like the type to ever settle down.”

Knock, knock, knock.

The secretary knocked and said, “Ms. Draven, someone from Caldwell Group is here to see you.”

“Caldwell Group?” Ella perked up instantly and hurried to open the door. “Who did they send,”

When she saw who was standing there, Ella froze for a second before blurting out, “Mr. Caldwell! Ms. Draven is in. Please,

come on in!”

After playing the sycophant and ushering Alaric in, Ella kept winking at Ophelia, her face full of mischief.

‘Boss, Mr. Caldwell came all the way here just to see you!’ Ella’s eyes practically screamed.

Ophelia shot her a “zip it” glare.

“Mr. Caldwell, please have a seat. Take your time chatting,” Ella said with a huge grin, slipping out and wiggling her eyebrows at Ophelia in full gossip mode before shutting the door.
