Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 232

Chapter 232

Chapter 232

“Sharp tongue,” Alaric said, unable to stop a fond, indulgent smile.

What else could he do but let her have her way?

“Well… that’s it,” Ophelia said, tilting her chin toward the door.

She was clearly hinting, ‘Mr. Caldwell, you can head out now.’

Alaric shook his head with a wry smile. “Work talk’s over, but we still haven’t finished our personal business, have we?”

“Personal business?” Ophelia frowned slightly. “What personal business?”

‘Seriously, what kind of personal stuff do we even need to discuss? And in my office, of all places?’ she thought.

“You said I need to apply the ointment a few times a day,” Alaric said, spreading his hands. “If I leave, how am I supposed to do that? So, either you come to me these next couple of days, or I come to you.”

One way or another, he was dead set on making sure they spent more time together.

Ophelia ground her teeth in frustration, shooting Alaric an annoyed glare. “It’s just some ointment, do you really have to go back and forth over something so simple?”

‘What’s with that logic?’ she thought.

‘Does it really have to be me? Is he seriously insisting on this?’ she grumbled inwardly.

“Of course,” Alaric said, nodding with total seriousness. “Only with your care can I heal quickly.”

“Alright then, I’ll call you at the same time every day and say something ‘caring’, is that good enough for you?” Ophelia said, practically spitting out the word “care” through gritted teeth.

Alaric pretended to think it over for a second before finally saying, “That works too.”

“Deal,” Alaric replied, his eyes warm with a teasing smile as he reminded her, “Don’t forget to call and care about me, Ophelia.” Even though he was smiling, Ophelia could clearly hear the threat hidden in his words.

It was obvious, if she didn’t call, he’d just show up again, guilt-tripping her into taking care of him.

Ophelia’s lips twitched as she shot Alaric a look and said, “I will. Not only will I check in on you like clockwork, Mr. Caldwell, but I’ll also wish for your speedy recovery every single day.”

‘Once you’re back to normal, let’s see what you’ll use to hold over my head next, she grumbled inwardly.

Alaric raised an eyebrow, clearly catching on to her thoughts, but just gave her a sly smile and kept quiet.

‘This feisty girl really knows how to hold a grudge,’ he mused.

After Alaric left, Ophelia finally set the files aside.

Honestly, she hadn’t actually read a single word, she was just faking it for Alaric’s sake.

‘He’s becoming more and more of a pain. Why is he so damn persistent?’ she grumbled inwardly.

“Boss…” Ella poked her head in, her voice trailing off with a teasing lilt. “Seriously, you just let him walk out? Not even a little cozy moment or anything?”

Whoosh.

Another tissue went flying toward the door.

Ella dodged, grinning as she came in and picked up the tissue. “Chill, I know I shouldn’t have barged in, but who knew you two would be getting cozy in the office in broad daylight…”

Ophelia couldn’t be bothered to explain any further. She just shoved the files into Ella’s hands and said, “Check these out. You handle everything from here.”

Ella blinked in confusion as she opened the folder, then her eyes went wide. “Wait, this is the development project for that land out west. Isn’t the development rights with the Caldwell Group?”
