Chapter 233
Chapter 233
Was Ella here just to figure out what was really happening between her Boss and Mr. Caldwell?
How did she end up leaving so confused, without even knowing what was going on?
Ophelia threw her a frosty glare, and Ella instantly put on a fake, eager-to-please smile. “Yep, yep, everything’s fine. I’m heading out, gotta get to work.”
Ophelia didn’t shake her head until the office door had closed, letting out a resigned sigh.
Ella was really starting to become a pain.
The sun was setting, painting the sky in shades of gold and orange.
Ophelia made her way back to Rowle Manor.
She spotted a whole line of cars parked in the courtyard, and Ophelia arched an eyebrow. ‘So many people showed up?’ she thought.
Ophelia had figured it was just her parents coming by to visit Tristan, so she hadn’t expected such a crowd.
“Uncle Asher, Uncle Henry, it’s been ages since you guys came back. How long are you staying this time?” Zoe’s voice rang out, full of excitement.
Ophelia instantly understood. So the reason for all the commotion was that Asher and Henry had returned.
“I’m back to take care of a few things, but I can’t say for sure when I’ll be leaving,” a voice with a hint of authority replied.
Ophelia thought, ‘Based on what I know, that must be Uncle Asher.’
“Yeah, and since I missed Dad’s birthday last time, I want to stick around a bit longer this time to make up for it,” another voice chimed in, sounding friendly and easygoing.
‘So that must be Uncle Henry, Ophelia thought.
“Hmph, you’re all so busy, right? I’m just an old man, don’t bother worrying about me. I had a good birthday, no regrets at all,” Tristan snorted, sounding annoyed.
Honestly, he liked it better when they didn’t come back to bug him.
“Come on, Dad, you’re still mad about that? I really was swamped,” Henry said, trying to keep his cool.
“I came back as soon as I wrapped things up,” Asher shot back, his voice edged with irritation.
Tristan grumbled, “If you’ve got time to hang around here, put it to good use and get those branch offices in shape. That’d actually be worth something.”
The living room went quiet, and the air turned awkward in an instant.
Just then, Ophelia flashed a grin as she walked into the living room. “Grandpa, I’m back.”
“Ophelia, come over here, sweetheart,” Tristan called out, his face breaking into a big smile the moment he saw her.
“Wow, Grandpa, the house is packed today. Are those Uncle Asher and Uncle Henry?” Ophelia shot them a casual smile as she glanced over.
Both men looked at Ophelia, one cold and distant, the other all friendly and warm.
“Hmph!” Tristan gave them a dismissive look. “Yeah, it’s them.”
He didn’t bother to say anything else, like the two of them didn’t matter at all.
Ophelia couldn’t help but find it funny. ‘What did these two do to get on Grandpa’s bad side?’ she wondered.
‘Grandpa was already pissed before I even walked in, and now he’s still giving them the cold shoulder, she thought to herself.
“Ophelia, this is Asher, and that’s Henry,” Adrian introduced them softly. Then he turned to Asher and Henry. “Guys, this is Ophelia.”
“So you’re Ophelia?” Asher frowned, clearly annoyed. “What’s with the outfit? Now that you’re back with the Rowle family, you should watch how you dress. Don’t embarrass us.”
Ophelia glanced down at her T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, looking a bit helpless.
‘Was that aimed at me?’ she wondered.
