Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 310

Chapter 310

Chapter 310

“Where’s Ophelia?” Alaric grumbled, clearly not happy. He wanted her there for dinner.

“Ms. Rowle said she’s got something to handle, so you should eat first,” Ryan explained, keeping it honest.

Alaric’s face darkened, but Ryan quickly added, “She also said if you don’t eat on time, your previous deal is off.”

Alaric let out a quiet sigh, but obediently dug in without protest.

Ryan couldn’t help but stare, genuinely shocked. Honestly, he hadn’t expected it to work at all, but Alaric actually did as he was told.

Ryan didn’t know what kind of deal they’d struck, but one thing was clear, only Ms. Rowle could ever get Alaric to toe the line like this.

Meanwhile, Ophelia was in a video call with Ella.

“Boss, I really can’t handle this,” Ella whined, looking totally defeated.

Ophelia frowned, her voice cool and steady. “Take your time. First, find out everything you can about the other side.”

“Huh?” Ella blinked, a little slow on the uptake. “Boss, are you saying this might be a trap?”

Ella hadn’t really overthought it at first. The project looked almost too flawless, and honestly, it felt way out of her league to make a decision alone. That’s why she’d called Ophelia for backup.

But if Boss was right and this was a trap, the more you think about it, the scarier it gets.

“Not sure yet, but there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Just stay sharp,” Ophelia warned, her eyes serious.

Ella nodded carefully. “Okay, Boss. I get it.”

“And about Mr. Brown, you’re fully in charge of the proposal. Finish it up, let me review it, then send it over. If everything’s good, move forward and get the contract signed,” Ophelia said, her tone even more commanding.

“Is Mr. Brown rushing us?” Ella asked, a little curious why Ophelia was suddenly so serious.

“No, but let’s get it done as soon as possible,” Ophelia replied, not elaborating. It was just a gut feeling.

She figured if they moved things along faster, maybe George would stop bugging her so much.

“Got it,” Ella said, didn’t ask anything else and hung up.

Ophelia frowned, thinking about the project Ella had brought up. The more tempting it looked, the more it set off alarm bells in her head.

But she’d already put Ella on the case, so she’d just have to wait and see what turned up before making any decisions.

Ophelia closed her laptop and let out a deep sigh. All that really mattered now was looking after Alaric.

She bit her lip, and out of nowhere, that day replayed in her mind, Alaric throwing himself in harm’s way for her, collapsing in a pool of blood, the rose he’d given her stained red. Every time that memory surfaced, her heart ached all over again.

“Ms. Rowle?” Ryan’s voice snapped Ophelia out of her thoughts.

Ophelia looked up, raising an eyebrow. “What brings you here? Need something?”
