Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 361

Chapter 361

Chapter 361

Ophelia’s mouth twitched in annoyance as she rolled her eyes at him. “What other man? Aren’t we talking about your company?”

A faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at Alaric’s lips when he heard her.

‘Those words were music to his ears,’ Alaric thought. ‘He could tell Ophelia really cared about him.’

“After dinner, you should just go home and get some rest. I’ll probably be working late tonight, Alaric said softly as he ate, glancing at Ophelia.

“Are you sure you should be pulling an all-nighter in your condition?” Ophelia frowned, clearly disapproving.

“It’s a special case,” Alaric said, acting all spoiled as he nuzzled his head against Ophelia’s shoulder. “Admit it, you feel bad for me, don’t you? Relax, I can handle it.”

Ophelia made a face and pushed Alaric away, grumbling, “Who feels bad for you? I’m just doing my job as a doctor.”

“Well, since you don’t care about me anyway, I guess it’s fine if I work a little longer,” Alaric said, hanging his head and feeling sorry for himself.

Ophelia smacked him lightly, shooting him a warning look. “Hurry up and eat. Once you’re done, get back to work. But you’ re coming back to the hospital with me at ten, no excuses.”

‘He really has no idea how to take care of himself, does he?’ Ophelia thought, exasperated. ‘He just doesn’t know how to look after himself at all.’

Alaric watched her, her annoyance only making the smile in his eyes grow deeper.

Even though she was scolding him, that old married couple vibe was exactly what he loved, and honestly, he loved it.. “Alright,” Alaric agreed cheerfully, reaching out to ruffle Ophelia’s hair. “I’m really happy you’re here with me, Ophelia.” “Hey! Get your hand off me!” Ophelia swatted at his hand, but Alaric had already let go.

He got up and walked over to his desk, his low, cheerful laughter lingering in the office.

As Alaric got busy, Ophelia bit her lip, her gaze lingering on him. Her eyes clouded over as she got lost in thought.

She’d come here planning to haul him back to the hospital since he hadn’t shown up, but seeing him still buried in work, she just couldn’t bring herself to scold or force him anymore.

Watching him still working at this hour, she couldn’t help but think about what he might be dealing with right now.

‘Do I feel bad for him?’ Ophelia wondered.

‘Yeah, I guess I do. He’s really not in any shape to be working this hard, she admitted to herself.

Ophelia stayed with Alaric in the office until ten at night.

Alaric set down his files and glanced over at Ophelia, only to find her already asleep. He couldn’t help but smile softly. He knew she was exhausted, which was why he’d agreed to go back at ten,

He knew that if he didn’t leave, she wouldn’t either.

He got up and walked over to the couch, finding Ophelia fast asleep, her brows furrowed even in her dreams. Alaric’s eyes softened with concern as he picked her up in his arms and quietly carried her out of the office.

As soon as they stepped out, Ryan rushed over, but one look from Alaric shut him up before he could say anything.

Seeing Ophelia asleep, Ryan nodded knowingly and stepped back.

‘Guess the boss is finally heading out, Ryan thought, feeling relieved. ‘Now I can relax too.’
