Chapter 363
Chapter 363
“Wait, is it because you want me to help you change?” Alaric said, pretending to suddenly understand, his face full of mock regret. “Ophelia, you should’ve just told me! If you ever need help, I’m always happy to lend a hand.”
“Shut up! Who asked you to help me change?” Ophelia snapped, grabbing a pillow and hurling it at Alaric before storming out of the hospital room.
‘Ugh, this infuriating guy. Does he really find teasing me that amusing?’ Ophelia grumbled inwardly.
‘He says things just to make me misunderstand, and then acts like I’m the one causing trouble, she thought.
Watching her storm out, Alaric hugged the pillow to his chest, a hint of delight flickering in his eyes.
‘Seems like this little hedgehog’s prickles aren’t so sharp anymore, Alaric mused to himself.
Alaric lazily got out of bed, washed up, changed his clothes, and headed out of the hospital room.
Right on cue, Ophelia stepped out after changing too. Their eyes met. Alaric had a playful smile on his face, while Ophelia looked at him like she wanted to strangle him.
“What are you smiling at?” Ophelia shot Alaric a sulky glare.
“Come on, Ophelia, don’t be mad. How about I treat you to breakfast to make it up to you?” Alaric tried to sweet-talk her, his tone gentle.
“Wow, you actually realized I’m mad?” Ophelia grumbled, turning her head away, clearly not in the mood to deal with him.
Alaric replied matter-of-factly, “Of course I did.”
“You!” Ophelia’s face grew even darker. ‘Just what kind of logic does this guy run on?’ she fumed.
“Ophelia, if you’re still mad, then you can help me change tonight. I swear I won’t complain at all,” Alaric said, his eyes sparkling with fake innocence. His words left Ophelia so stunned and mortified she felt like she was about to explode.
“Alaric, can you at least pretend to have some decency?” Ophelia rolled her eyes, turned on her heel, and walked off, tossing over her shoulder with obvious disdain, “Eat breakfast by yourself.”
But before she could get away, Alaric caught her hand, tilting his chin up with a playful swagger. “Your car’s still at Caldwell Group, you know. Even if you skip breakfast, you still have to hitch a ride with me to the office.”
“Oh…” It suddenly hit Ophelia. She’d come back in his car last night, so hers was still parked at Caldwell Group.
Seeing her pause, Alaric couldn’t help but let a sly grin slip as he tugged her along toward the parking lot.
They hopped in the car and drove off from the hospital.
Alaric picked up breakfast on the way, and before long, they pulled up at Caldwell Group.
As soon as they stepped out of the car, someone called out cheerfully, “Alaric!”
They turned to see a gorgeous woman with a killer figure making her way over.
Ophelia spotted her, one eyebrow arching as a playful smirk curled on her lips.
The woman walked up to Alaric and greeted him with an elegant smile. “Long time no see.”
“Is there something you need?” Alaric gave her a cool, indifferent glancé, his tone distant.
“Uh, well, I do have something to discuss…” She paused, then quickly clarified, “It’s work-related.”
