Chapter 371
Chapter 371
Henry gritted his teeth and came up with a reason. “My stuff can wait. Since Ophelia’s here, I’ll hang out with her for a bit.”
With that, he plopped down on the couch, looked up and beckoned to Ophelia, “Ophelia, come sit over here.”
He acted like he owned the place, didn’t seem the least bit embarrassed about getting caught eavesdropping.
“When did you get here, Ophelia?” Henry asked, keeping the conversation going on his own.
“Just now. I came to check on Oliver,” Ophelia replied calmly, then walked over and sat down on the couch.
Ophelia studied Henry, her gaze warm with a smile. “Just yesterday, Grandpa was saying that you and Oliver haven’t been home in a while. He hopes you can visit when things aren’t so busy.”
“Yeah, we really should go back,” Henry said, sounding a little guilty. “It’s just that things have been really hectic lately, and we’ve kept him waiting for us.”
“And Asher said the same. Everyone’s been missing you,” Ophelia added, nodding with a gentle, caring smile.
Henry’s face fell for a moment, but he masked it almost instantly.
Ophelia arched her brow, her gaze holding a hint of something deeper.
the Since Henry came to the headquarters, he and Asher haven’t really been in touch. Ophelia couldn’t help but wonder if
were up to something behind the scenes.
“So, are things all set at the branch offices for Asher and you? You really don’t need to go back and check?” Ophelia asked, feigning concern.
Henry chuckled, his eyes gentle. “I planned to stay longer this time, so things are all sorted out over there. Don’t worry about it.”
Ophelia shot a look at Oliver, who gave her a barely noticeable nod.
It seemed like they had no intention of returning to the branch offices this time.
No wonder they were so quick to chase after a partnership with Maplewood Capital, they just wanted to show Grandpa what they could do.
Too bad their abilities weren’t enough to match their ambitions.
Ophelia lowered her eyes and stood up. “I just dropped by to see you. If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going. I didn’t mean to interrupt you and Oliver working.”
“Leaving so soon?” Henry said, sounding a bit reluctant. “We’re not busy anyway. Why not stay a bit longer?”
“No, thanks,” Ophelia said, then arched her brow at Oliver, her look saying more than words could.
Oliver nodded, giving her a gentle smile. “Go on. Don’t stay out too late once you’re done with your work.”
“Huh?” Ophelia blinked, a little thrown by the look in Oliver’s eyes. She caught on quickly, her answer coming out a bit stiff.” Alright, I got it.”
Oliver clearly didn’t approve of her staying at the hospital so much, so he was gently urging her to come home sooner.
But with everything happening with Alaric, she couldn’t leave the hospital just yet.
After saying goodbye to Oliver, Ophelia stepped out of Rowle Group.
But she realized she couldn’t just hang around the hospital forever, some things really needed to be sorted out.
Meanwhile, back in Oliver’s office.
“Anything else, Henry?” Oliver asked, all traces of warmth gone from his eyes, leaving only a faint chill.
“Oh, nothing,” Henry said, getting to his feet with a faint smile. “I just wanted to see Ophelia. Now that she’s gone, I should get back to work.”
“Alright,” Oliver nodded, pausing for a beat as his eyes went cold. “No need to work late today. After you clock out, maybe you should go visit Grandpa and Asher.”
Henry froze for a second, but quickly forced a smile. “Yeah, I guess I should drop by.”
