Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 379

Chapter 379

Chapter 379

“Yeah, didn’t the word go around that someone was entertaining guests here?” one of them asked.

“Let’s keep looking. Maybe they’re just hiding somewhere,” another suggested.

With puzzled looks, the group started searching the room.

In the end, they found nothing, and everyone was left scratching their heads.

Just then, someone turned their gaze to the drunk man, a hint of accusation in their voice. “Where’s the person?”

“Who?” the drunk man snapped back, glaring at them. “I’m just here resting because I had too much to drink. Why are all of you barging in like this?”

He hadn’t forgotten the warning look that woman gave him before she left, silently telling him not to say a word.

Those eyes were so cold and terrifying that even now, just thinking about them made his back go cold and sent a shiver through him.

“Someone tipped us off that there’s someone soliciting here. If you don’t hand them over, we’re calling the cops,” one of them threatened.

“Are you even real reporters? Are you nuts? I bet you’re all fakes. And you wanna call the cops?” the drunk guy shot back, pissed off. “Go ahead, call them! If you don’t, I will!”.

With that, the drunk man pretended to pull out his phone, acting like he was about to dial the police.

He was nervous as hell, but he couldn’t let these people see through him.

To him, this whole pack of reporters was nothing. None of them were half as scary as that woman from earlier.

The room went dead silent, the air so stifling it made everyone uncomfortable. The reporters looked at each other, completely clueless, like, ‘What the hell is even happening right now?’

“What are you all doing here?” Ella walked in, her face darkening when she saw the room packed with people. “We’re not giving any interviews. Please leave.”

As she stepped into the lounge, her expression stiffened when she spotted the drunk man sprawled on the floor.

‘What the hell is going on?’ Ella thought, her mind racing.

‘Who is this guy, and why is he here?’ she wondered, her eyes narrowing in suspicion.

Instinctively, Ella glanced toward the bathroom, her senses on high alert. She could tell right away that no one was inside.

‘Boss isn’t in there, and everything out here is a mess. What the hell is going on?’ Ella thought, her mind racing.

“You’re the VP at Maplewood Capital, right? What’s that supposed to mean, you won’t talk to us?” one of the reporters pressed.

“Don’t tell me… Ms. Draven is actually here?” someone blurted out.

Their faces changed in an instant, and it was clear from their complicated expressions exactly what was running through their minds.

Ella’s face darkened, and she cursed herself inwardly. ‘How could I be so dumb? I’m just dragging Boss into this mess!’

With things this chaotic, it wouldn’t take much for Boss’s name to get dragged through the mud.

Ella’s nerves were shot when her phone rang.

Seeing Ophelia’s name pop up, she answered, a bit breathless. “Boss, where are you?”

“Yeah, I got it. Huh?” Ella glanced around, playing it up, then slapped her forehead, acting all annoyed. “I totally walked into the wrong room. No wonder there’s a bunch of weirdos in here.”

Saying that, Ella made a quick exit, breathing a silent sigh of relief.

‘So Boss really isn’t here. I don’t know what’s going on, but as long as Boss is safe, that’s good enough for me, Ella thought.

Someone trailed after Ella as she left.

They watched as she ducked into the lounge next door.

Every so often, you could hear Ella’s voice coming from inside: “I was in such a hurry, I ended up in the wrong room… No clue, looks like some reporters are interviewing someone. Yeah, nothing to do with us.”
