Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 39

**Paths Lead To Purpose — Kevin Masters**

**Chapter 39**

He wasn’t exaggerating; Ophelia truly resembled an angel, ethereal and radiant in her presence.

“I trust you completely. Even if I had doubts, I would still believe in Ophelia’s capabilities,” Dylan declared, affectionately tousling Owen’s hair as he spoke.

Owen, quick as a flash, turned his head away, evading Dylan’s playful gesture. “No one but Ophelia is allowed to touch my head!” he declared with a hint of defiance.

Dylan paused for a moment, a look of surprise crossing his face before laughter bubbled forth, filling the room with warmth.

“I’m just intrigued by how you’ve suddenly become so close to someone. So, it’s only Ophelia who gets special treatment, huh?” Dylan withdrew his hand, a teasing smile dancing on his lips, clearly unfazed by Owen’s reaction.

Watching the lively exchange unfold, a flicker of jealousy sparked in Zoe’s eyes. She cast a quick glance at Chloe, who, sensing the tension, nodded knowingly before slipping into the kitchen.

Moments later, Chloe reappeared, balancing a tray laden with refreshments.

“Drinks and fruit for everyone! Help yourselves while you chat,” she announced cheerfully, placing the tray on the coffee table, arranging the items neatly for Dylan, Owen, Zoe, and Ophelia.

Owen eagerly grabbed a glass of juice, while Dylan, with a dismissive wave, pushed the milkshake aside. “I’m good. I’ll stick with Ophelia’s coffee,” he replied, a grin spreading across his face.

“Understood,” Chloe said, nodding in acknowledgment. She then placed two additional cups of milkshake in front of Zoe and Ophelia before stepping back, allowing the conversation to flow freely.

As the group resumed their chatter, Zoe took a sip of her milkshake and chimed in, “Ophelia, you should know that these ingredients are specially cultivated with an incredibly low yield. You won’t find them anywhere else. You really ought to try some.”

Ophelia raised an eyebrow, unimpressed by Zoe’s self-important tone, feeling a hint of annoyance.

“Actually, Ophelia, not many in the family are fond of milkshakes; it’s really just Zoe who enjoys them. Dad and Mom are coffee lovers, and I see you seem to lean that way too,” Owen interjected, his expression earnest.

Ophelia blinked, realizing Owen was playfully teasing Zoe.

At Owen’s words, Zoe’s face blanched, and a wave of anxiety washed over her. ‘Is Owen suggesting that I’m not a direct blood relative of the Rowle family, implying our tastes are mismatched?’ she pondered, her heart racing.
