Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 392

Chapter 392

Alaric shrugged, not bothering to hide it. “Ophelia says I’m still not fully healed and I still need someone to keep an eye on

me.”

Seeing Alaric looking all pleased with himself, Oliver’s expression soured. “Normally, your assistant could handle that, right? Is Ophelia really the only one who can do it?”

Alaric paused for a moment, as if weighing his words, then nodded. “She’s the only one I trust.”

Oliver couldn’t help but shoot Alaric a look of pure exasperation. Seriously, listen to yourself. Talk about shameless, he thought.

“Mr. Rowle, are you unhappy with me?” Alaric’s eyes narrowed a bit, and for once, he actually reined in his usual edge, sounding a little helpless.

‘This is my future brother-in-law we’re talking about. If he’s not happy with me, things could get complicated, Alaric thought.

Oliver got what Alaric was hinting at and admitted it without hesitation. “Yeah, just a bit.”

‘Don’t think I can’t see right through you, Alaric. You’re totally playing the hero card just to get close to Ophelia,’ Oliver thought.

Yeah, he got hurt saving her, but did he really need Ophelia to personally look after him? He was obviously just using it as an excuse to have her all to himself.

Alaric’s lips curled into a faint, regretful smile. “That’s a real shame.”

He knew Oliver was making it clear he wasn’t happy about him and Ophelia being together.

But there was no way he was letting Ophelia go.

Alaric fixed Oliver with a serious look, almost like he was making a vow. “I’ll keep at it. I’ll do my best to earn approval as soon as possible.”

Oliver’s lips twitched. ‘Is that what he means?’ he wondered.

‘Approval? Whose approval is he even talking about?’ Oliver thought, a little confused.

For some reason, Oliver was sure Alaric meant Ophelia. If she gave her blessing, no one else in the family would have any reason to object.

Honestly, it wasn’t that Oliver had a problem with Alaric as a person.

But what really bugged him was how Alaric seemed to know everything about Ophelia, while the rest of the family only found out much later. It just felt off.

Noticing the shift in Oliver’s expression, Alaric arched an eyebrow, quickly catching on. He could only shake his head, feeling a bit resigned.

Downstairs, the mood was strangely tense, a weird awkwardness hanging in the air.

Upstairs, the atmosphere was just as stifling, making it hard for anyone to breathe easy.

“Miles, we’ve never come across a case like this before. Honestly, we’re at a loss and can’t really say for sure what’s going on,” the doctor said, looking troubled.

Miles’s face was serious. He was all about research and knew his way around pharmaceuticals, but when it came to actual medicine, he only knew the basics. Faced with his grandpa’s current state, he was honestly at a loss.

“Could you all step outside for a moment?” a clear, calm voice suddenly broke the silence.
