Of course he recognized her; she was Una Lowell, the daughter of the Lowell family and Vernon Lowell's sister.
But he couldn't stand her arrogant, domineering personality and had no desire to chat with her.
Vernon was a playboy, and his sister was a spoiled brat. It made perfect sense that those two were siblings.
"Steward, it's me, Una Lowell. Don't you recognize me?"
Steward was her brother's friend. She had met him before, even if they hadn't hung out much.
Stella also recognized Steward. She had been drinking with him recently; he was a friend of Julius Blackwood.
At first, when Una tried to play the connection card, Stella thought Steward would help her. She hadn't expected Una to be so bluntly rejected.
This man showing up here at this exact moment... could he be inspecting his own properties?
She pulled him aside discreetly and lowered her voice. "Hey, buddy, remember the bond we forged over those drinks?"
"I don't remember. You and she both want to buy that bracelet?"
He had never seen a woman who could drink like that. He didn't want to be reminded of the time he was out-drank and left under the table by a woman.
"Actually, I don't even want it that much. I just can't stand her arrogant, bitchy attitude."
Stella was certain Steward remembered her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been curious enough to ask if she wanted to buy the bracelet. A normal reaction would have been to coldly distance himself.
Steward asked curiously, "So what do you want to do?"
"Julius told me you own this jewelry store."
Seeing the two of them whispering together, Una walked over unhappily and tugged at Steward. "Steward, I heard she's just a country bumpkin. Don't waste your breath talking to her. It lowers your status."
This woman had definitely seen that she knew Steward and was trying to seduce him into helping her buy the bracelet. She couldn't let her succeed.
Steward threw his hands up. "Fine, I won't talk. You ladies handle your own business."
Hearing this, Una felt relieved. She puffed out her chest proudly. "As long as you don't help her, we're good. Manager, hurry up and swipe my card. I must have this bracelet today."
Stella chimed in, "Manager, I'll pay double the price for this bracelet. Swipe my card."
The manager was even more at a loss now. She looked at Steward. She didn't know he was the owner, but the man beside him looked vaguely familiar, though she couldn't place him at the moment.
Given this man's distinguished aura, could he be some VIP?
