Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 128

The motorcycle tires shrieked against the asphalt, the piercing friction blending with the roar of the engines as she drifted perfectly around the curve.

Completing the lap and crossing the finish line, she executed a flawless, stylish fishtail stop. All the vehicles trailing behind her came to a halt.

They had lost!

But they were thoroughly convinced of her skill.

As everyone dismounted, Jason nudged Vernon. "Vernon, who exactly is she? I've never seen a woman race so fiercely."

"Why are you asking me? She hasn't shown her face since she got here. Didn't you bet Weber Harper you'd race him? I heard he found a ringer. Have you found your guy yet?"

He had only been dragged here by Jason's fast-talking.

"Not yet. That's why I came when I heard there was a race tonight. I brought you along to see if we could spot someone skilled enough to crush his ego."

Vernon offered an idea. "I think that woman can help you. I tried to overtake her on the curve just now, but I have to admit, her technique is flawless. If even I, Vernon Lowell, couldn't beat her with my skills, she can definitely beat Weber for you."

"Buddy, let's go introduce ourselves. This is where you work your magic. Get her number, and I'll negotiate with her later."

Vernon dismissed him. "Tch, why should I help you? Does your brother know you're street racing? Consider it a favor that I haven't ratted you out to him."

Why should he play wingman for Jason?

Jason wasn't annoyed. He smiled cheekily and said, "Vernon, are you really not going to help me? Here, take a look at this before you decide."
