After addressing Una, Sheridan shot a sharp look at Rhoda. "And as for you, if you don't want to be thrown out, I suggest you stop causing trouble. Otherwise, don't blame me for not being polite."
With that, he walked away without giving either of them a second glance.
The crowd of onlookers quickly dispersed as well; no one wanted to risk offending the eldest son of the Jennings family.
Una stomped her foot in frustration, fuming, "Every time we run into that woman, nothing good happens! It's such terrible luck!"
Rhoda agreed, "Una, I think there's something genuinely weird about her. I swear, I didn't mean to throw that wine on you.
I was aiming right for her, but suddenly you were just... standing right in front of her, and the drink hit you instead."
Una nodded slowly. "I thought that was weird too. I was standing right next to you—how did I suddenly end up in front of her?
And I clearly wanted to slap her! I don't even know what happened, but for some reason, I just collapsed onto my knees in front of her. I'm so furious I could die!"
Rhoda gritted her teeth. "Who knew she was friends with the Jennings girl and even knew Sheridan? Are we really just supposed to swallow this insult?"
Una thought for a moment, a sinister smile creeping onto her face. "I know a way to make her embarrass herself tonight!"
"What way?"
Una curled her finger, and Rhoda leaned in close.
As Rhoda listened to the plan, her eyes lit up. She nodded eagerly. "Yes! By the time we're done with her, her reputation will be utterly destroyed. She won't ever have the nerve to show her face at a high-society banquet again."
Stella, completely unaware of the vicious scheming going on behind her back, navigated from memory to the second floor and knocked on Sylvie's door.
