Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 16

"Look, your leg is already a lost cause. Now that such a golden opportunity is right in front of you, why not take a gamble? If it works, you hit the jackpot with nothing to lose, right?"

Julius felt she actually had a point, so he asked, "Then tell me, how do you plan to treat my leg?"

"I can't make empty promises. I need to examine your leg first to make a proper assessment. Are you willing to let me look?"

Figuring he didn't want to die so soon anyway, Julius reluctantly agreed to let the young girl take a look.

"I can show you, but you need to prepare yourself. I hope you won't be frightened."

"Don't worry, you won't scare me. When I was living out in the country, I saw plenty of livestock being slaughtered. It takes a lot to gross me out."

Julius was speechless.

Why was she comparing him to pigs and cows?

His leg had absolutely nothing in common with slaughtering livestock, alright?

A kid is just a kid!

He rolled up his wide pant leg.

Stella crouched down, inspecting it from left to right. She even picked up a cotton swab from the table and gently prodded his leg with it.

Julius gritted his teeth against the sharp pain from the cotton swab and let her examine him. His leg was already rotting. He hadn't expected a young girl like her to not only tolerate the foul smell but actually crouch down and willingly examine it. If she couldn't cure it, she couldn't cure it. At least the girl had a good heart.
