Sabrina had been entirely oblivious. When she returned from the restroom, her boyfriend handed her the spiked drink.
The three of them cheerfully clinked glasses. After finishing their drinks, they cut the cake. Throughout the entire process, the other two hadn't shown a single crack in their facades.
But right after the cake was cut, Sabrina lost consciousness and collapsed onto the floor.
Once she was down, her best friend and boyfriend stood over her, spewing the most repulsive insults imaginable.
"Logan, look at how pathetic she is. If she knew we'd been hooking up this whole time, do you think it would break her little heart?"
"If it weren't for the fact she's the Sherwood heiress, I wouldn't even bother looking at her. I've been with her for over a year, and all I get is holding hands and an arm around the waist. She won't even let me kiss her. She's a boring, stuck-up prude. Who would actually want a woman like that?"
The woman wrapped her arms seductively around the man's neck. "So, Logan, do you like me?"
The man pulled her tight against his waist. "Baby, do you even have to ask? If I didn't want you, why would I spike her drink?"
"Did your guys get here yet?"
"They're here. Once she gets completely ruined by those thugs, I'll play the hero. I'll act like I don't care that she's damaged goods and stay by her side. After that, she'll be utterly devoted to me, and the Sherwood family's resources will be entirely at my disposal!"
The man threw his head back and laughed arrogantly.
The woman looked anxious. "But Logan, what about me?"
"Baby, we're sticking to the plan. Once the Hale Group drains the Sherwood family's resources and secures its spot at the top, I'll dump her. Then we can finally be together out in the open."
The woman pouted playfully. "You better keep your promise. I've given you everything."
"Of course I will."
The two of them then proceeded to make out fiercely, right there in the booth.
