Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 184

He had no idea how to spin his lies anymore.

"It means exactly what it sounds like. Logan, Ashley, drop the act. You know exactly what you did last night."

Called out so directly, Ashley panicked. "Sabrina, how can you say that? We didn't do anything!

We waited in the private room forever. When you didn't come back, we figured you went home, so we left the club.

Logan dropped me off and then went straight home. I'm your best friend—you don't honestly think I have feelings for Logan, do you?"

Sabrina looked at Logan, then back at Ashley. She tilted her head slightly. "Is that so?"

Logan nodded vigorously. "Yes! Exactly what Ashley said!"

"Wow. Your acting is atrocious. A toddler wouldn't even buy this. Logan, it must have been exhausting pretending all this time. Congratulations, you don't have to fake it anymore. We're done."

"Sabrina, listen to me, I don't want to break up!"

Logan stepped forward, desperately reaching for her hand. He couldn't lose her. She was a Sherwood; he needed her family's wealth and connections.

Screwing around with Ashley was one thing, but losing Sabrina meant losing all those corporate resources.

The whole point of having her drugged and assaulted last night was so he could swoop in as her savior, cementing her devotion to him forever and securing his grip on the Sherwood empire.

Ashley couldn't compare to Sabrina in any aspect. She was just a convenient outlet for his physical frustrations when he couldn't have Sabrina. He never intended to actually be with her.

But what the hell had gone wrong?

Did those guys fail?
