Seeing how she reluctantly shook out the pill just moments ago—looking so pained and utterly miserly—and how she specifically warned him not to throw it away because she was coming back for it tomorrow if he didn't take it...
It would have been one thing not to offer it at all, but to give it to him and then say she was taking it back if he didn't swallow it was just absurd.
Was this kid playing a game?
Well, he wasn't going to let her have her way!
He grabbed the water glass and the pill from the table, tilted his head back, and swallowed it down.
Immediately after swallowing it, he felt he had acted too impulsively. He was normally a man of iron discipline; how did a young girl manage to provoke him with just a few words? It seemed he really needed to work on his composure.
But wait, how did Stella know he wasn't sleeping well? Did she actually know natural medicine?
Larry had mentioned she brought back a massive haul of herbal supplies, and she had been tinkering away in that room for hours.
Maybe she actually did have some skill?
When he finally lay down to sleep, however, he truly realized Stella hadn't been lying to him.
Usually, when he lay in bed between ten and two in the morning, his leg felt as if tens of thousands of ants were gnawing at it—painful, intensely itchy, and utterly unbearable. Every night, he couldn't fall asleep until well past two o'clock. Because of this, he spent a large portion of his days trying to catch up on sleep.
He glanced at his phone. It was already eleven o'clock, and surprisingly, there was no pain or itching coming from his leg.
This feeling was incredible!
Julius slept better than he had in a very long time.
...
The next day.
By the time Stella woke up, it was already past eight in the morning. The beds at the Blackwood Manor were far more comfortable than those at the Hawthorne residence. She had slept wonderfully, not even having a single dream.
She went downstairs to forage for food.
