Julius dialed Marsh's number. "Why does Stella's file suddenly stop?"
"Boss, I couldn't find anything after that. It's as if everything was intentionally erased."
"Marsh, make sure absolutely no one finds out you were investigating Stella."
"Understood, Boss."
After hanging up, Julius fell deep into thought.
Where exactly did Stella go after leaving Northgate Middle School?
Why would she deliberately erase her own past?
Did she do it herself, or was someone powerful behind the scenes helping her hide it?
It seemed Stella was far more complex than she appeared. Perhaps everything Marsh had uncovered wasn't even the real truth. It was entirely possible she wanted people to deliberately perceive her exactly as the file portrayed.
What was she trying to misdirect them from?
It really was true—the more innocent and beautiful the appearance, the less trustworthy they were.
Julius's lips curled into a smirk. This little girl was quite fascinating. He was actually starting to look forward to seeing how this played out.
He rolled his wheelchair over to the study, flipped open his laptop, and his fingers flew rapidly across the keyboard.
Ten minutes later, a skull icon popped up on his laptop screen, followed by a warning prompt: Back off if you don't want to die!
Heh, who exactly was on the other end?
They actually had better hacking skills than he did?
Was it Stella herself?
This was getting more and more interesting!
...
Around five o'clock in the afternoon, Stella came back carrying bags upon bags, having bought quite a lot of supplies. She had the staff help her carry everything upstairs, finding an empty room to store it all. The Blackwood Manor was massive, and there was no shortage of spare rooms.
She went to the adjacent guest room, took a shower, and only then headed over to Julius's room.
It had been scorching hot outside today, and she had sweat profusely; it felt terribly uncomfortable.
