Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 238

Both mother and daughter had already suffered crushing defeats at her hands. She feared absolutely nothing.

"This isn't your home!" Chloe snapped, her voice shrill.

She despised looking at Stella's face. The girl was an absolute psycho.

"I don't have time for this." Stella brushed past them and started up the stairs.

"Stop right there! Where do you think you're going?" Chloe panicked. Was this lunatic going to trash her room again?

Miranda shot up from the sofa, her temper flaring. "Stella, what exactly are you trying to do? Barging in here, storming upstairs—do you have zero respect for me? I am your stepmother!"

"You? A stepmother?" Stella laughed coldly. "You were a homewrecker who manipulated her way into this house. Don't act high and mighty with me. Want me to jog your memory about how you abused me when I was a kid?"

Stella hadn't planned on wasting breath on Miranda, but if the woman wanted a fight, she wouldn't hold back.

"You... stop calling me that! Regardless of the past, I am legally your stepmother. I am your elder!"

Deep down, Miranda didn't want to completely burn bridges with Stella. After all, the girl was officially married into the Blackwood family.

Over the past few days, Miranda had realized that repairing their relationship would only bring her benefits.

But the moment Stella opened her mouth, Miranda's blood pressure skyrocketed. Staying calm was impossible.

"You're a greedy, vicious, narrow-minded parasite," Stella shot back mercilessly. "You don't deserve an ounce of respect."

The woman hadn't even been able to tolerate a ten-year-old child. She had constantly schemed, abused her, and then eagerly stolen her mother's jewelry.

Even though she didn't have hard evidence, Stella knew damn well that pawning off her mother's necklace had been Miranda's idea.

And throwing her mother's urn into the doghouse? That had definitely been Miranda whispering poison into Frederick's ear.

Chloe felt a chill run down her spine under that intense stare, but she forced herself to act tough. "What are you looking at?"

"Upstairs. Now. We need to talk."

"If you have something to say, say it here! Why do we need to go upstairs?" Chloe was terrified Stella was going to lock the door and beat her senseless.

Seeing the fear in her eyes, Stella let out a mocking laugh. "Don't want to come? Fine. I'll go up myself. But don't come crying to me when I'm done."

Without waiting for a response, she turned and headed for the second floor.

Remembering how Stella had mercilessly thrown all her designer clothes out the window the last time she was in that room, Chloe panicked and scrambled up the stairs after her.

She glanced back over her shoulder, whining, "Mom, hurry up! Protect me!"
