That evening, after Julius got home from work, Stella gave him a detailed rundown of what happened at Chloe's university.
When she had left campus at noon, she had only sent him a brief text, leaving out the specifics.
She conveniently omitted her afternoon meeting with Wilfred, fearing that a certain someone might get jealous and decide to punish her in bed.
After listening, Julius said, "You don't need to follow him. I'll have someone tail Zane. The organization has specialists for tracking."
Stella decided to wash her hands of it. Letting him handle it saved her the trouble anyway.
Julius added, "Gideon Kaye called Sean today asking about a partnership. I had Sean tell him we aren't considering it right now. He'll likely turn to the Harper family soon."
The Harper family had been in the fragrance industry for years, making them an excellent alternative partner.
If he hadn't personally met with Gideon first, he suspected Gideon would have approached the Harpers from the start.
Gideon's only reason for wanting to partner with the Blackwood Group was their massive financial backing.
Stella peeled an orange, broke off a slice, and popped it into Julius's mouth. "So, what's your next move?"
Julius thought for a moment before answering honestly. "I've already reported this to my superiors. They'll have eyes on Gideon's every move. As soon as he strikes a deal with the Harper family, he'll be forced to take his next steps, and it's only a matter of time before he slips up. Whatever you do, do not go back to his place. We just need to wait for him to walk right into our trap."
He knew she was more than capable of taking care of herself, but he still worried about her safety.
"Got it. I won't get in the way of your operation." She wasn't one to stick her nose where it didn't belong or create unnecessary trouble.
The next day.
Zane went to the agreed-upon convenience store to find his contact.
The man was easy to spot. He had a penchant for floral shirts, a slightly pockmarked face, and a distinct mole on his left jawline that made him instantly recognizable.
He was currently lounging inside the store, cracking sunflower seeds and scrolling through his phone.
