Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 269

Gideon's residence.

Gideon finally calmed down after smashing a laptop against the wall.

Those people were acting like rabid dogs, searching every inch of the city and making it impossible for him to make a single move.

If he had known, he never would have touched the Eames girl. He hadn't realized the Eames family had the kind of influence to mobilize half the city's police force.

What Gideon didn't know was that the massive police presence was actually because Stella was missing. He genuinely believed she was just Julius's lowly secretary and that Julius wouldn't care about her.

"From this moment on, all personnel and safe houses go into deep hiding. We wait out the storm before we make our next move."

"Understood, Mr. Kaye."

"No one goes near the basement. Keep those three locked up for now. The basement is completely hidden, so no one will find it. Everyone else, scatter immediately. Leave just two men here on guard."

"Understood, Mr. Kaye."

The group dispersed in an instant, and the chaotic energy of the house vanished, instantly transforming it back into a completely ordinary, quiet residence.

Gideon headed upstairs to his bedroom.

He had originally planned to visit the basement to check on Stella when he got back, but halfway home, he noticed patrols searching everywhere, and police sirens were echoing across the entire city.

He didn't dare go down to the basement now, terrified that plainclothes cops might suddenly kick the door in.

He walked into the bathroom, planning to take a hot bath to clear his head and figure out his next move.

He ran the water, sank comfortably into the tub, and closed his eyes to rest.

The moment he shut his eyes, someone struck him hard from behind, knocking him out cold.

Julius left the bathroom and began tearing Gideon's room apart.

He had found nothing the last time he was here, but he was determined to rip the place apart this time.

There was only one guard left on the ground floor, and Marsh had already taken out the security cameras. They could search freely.

Half an hour later, Marsh brought his team upstairs.

"Boss, we've tossed the entire first floor. There's absolutely nothing."

"Boss, we checked the rest of the second floor too. Same thing. Nothing at all."

Gideon woke up in the bathtub. The water was freezing. He had literally been jolted awake by the cold.

He stood up, turned on the showerhead, and stood under the scalding water until his body warmed up. Finally, he dried off and stepped out of the bathroom.

How the hell did he fall asleep in the tub?

He must have exhausted himself running around hunting for women with natural scents these past few days.

Whatever. He was going to get a good night's sleep.

He dried his hair, crawled into bed, pulled the covers up, and immediately went to sleep.

After ordering his men to keep a tight tail on Snaggletooth and Gideon, Julius drove straight to the Eames residence.

Because he and Ian were friends, he was let in immediately.

He got right to the point. "Ian, Jason told me your sister went missing. What exactly happened?"

"Julius, she went missing last night. I tried calling you today, but I couldn't get through, so I reached out to Jason for help."
