Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 296

She had no choice but to answer. "Go ahead and attend to the other guests, Aunt Suzanne. I'm completely fine." After all, she wasn't the one who had made a fool of herself.

She genuinely didn't view Zoe as a threat. She could flatten the girl with a single finger.

"Alright. Julius, bring Stella to the estate when you have time. I'll make sure you're both properly hosted," Suzanne said.

"I will, Aunt Suzanne. I'll take good care of her," Julius replied.

He led Stella over to the younger generation's table, where Jason was already seated.

Throughout the meal, his attentiveness toward Stella was immaculate. Everyone at the table was practically choked by the sheer amount of public affection he displayed.

Midway through dinner, Jason's prediction came true. Zoe really did march over with a glass of wine to 'apologize' to Stella.

Stella poked Julius's arm. "Your little fangirl is here." She took the opportunity to give his firm bicep a cheeky squeeze.

Julius caught her mischievous hand and held it securely. "I have no fangirls, and I certainly have no 'sisters.' I only have one gorgeous wife, and I'm currently holding her hand."

She lightly scratched his palm. "Look, she's bringing a drink. What are you going to do if she tries to splash me again?"

"She won't get the chance."

Just as their whispered exchange ended, Zoe arrived at their side, wine glass in hand.

"Julius, I came to apologize to Ms. Hawthorne."

She then turned to Stella. "Ms. Hawthorne, I was out of line earlier. I'm truly sorry. Can we be friends?"

Stella raised an eyebrow. The apology was surprisingly prompt.

It seemed Zoe was flexible enough to swallow her pride. She was willing to humble herself entirely just for Julius's sake. What a manipulative piece of work.

"Since you're being so earnest, naturally I won't refuse." Stella raised her glass and clinked it against Zoe's.

The moment the glasses connected, Zoe intentionally let go. The crystal shattered loudly against the floor.

Not stopping there, she raised her hand to deliver a vicious slap right across Stella's face.

But before the blow could land, Julius snatched her wrist mid-air.

She struggled against his grip but couldn't break free. "Julius, you're hurting me."

Julius forcefully shoved her hand away. "Is this your 'sincere apology'? How incredibly eye-opening."

How dare she try to hit his wife right in front of him! Did she think he was invisible?
